But students of origin state (Odisha) can get admission there through counseling conducted on iiit-bhubaneswar college website . You can check the cut off there(this is also base on jee main score). 50% seats are reserved for home State students. After all the attempts for JEE Main are completed, usually the counseling process starts on the official website of the college. Further in the process of counseling in the official website there is various sub categories on which basis you can get further reservations. that are ews, green card holder, gh,sc,st etc

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Faculty --> Don't expect much, most of them are actually PhD students, they teach here mostly to gain experience. In some subjects you may get experienced teachers they can teach you betterm Btw, if you see a teacher teaching good, most probably he will be switching college in near future

Placement Experience

4

You can refer to the placement statistics available on college website. For 2023 batch the placement was quite good with the average package of 12Lpa. for 2024 batch the placement was not that good due to recession and layoffs seasons are going. The placement statistics are growing exponentially. For cse,it or ce branch tha placement statistics are quite good. But for eee,etc branches it's not that effective as other branches.

Fees and Financial Aid

Currently according to current fee structure which is available in admission brochure the complete fee is nearly around 9.5lakhs 80 thousand. The mess fee is not included. There are various of scholarship available for odisha categories students you can refer admission brochure.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus is too small that's the major major cons of this college tha campus size is nearly 23 acres. There is obviously library facilities available and there is also a reading room available. Class rooms are normal classrooms like other colleges. The annual fest of this college is advaita which takes place in February last week or march first week generally. There is also others small events takes place like tasveer, robospark(event of robotics society),D³(tech event) etc There is tech society, robotics society (tars), vedanta samiti (they arranges events),E cell and sports society present in this college.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities are preety good as compared to other colleges.in a room there is accomodation for 3 students. From 2nd year as for your wish you can choose single seater room(on the basis of your semister score). Mess food is neither that bad nor that good the food is manageable.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
