IITH - Life of dreams

The course curriculum was rather very flexible for students irrespective of their career field they would like to pursue chemical engineering being a very well-established career option influenced my decision to take up this stream as my career option. Chemistry Lab courses provided in the curriculum help to enhance our understanding of the subject. Most of the courses are of moderate level of difficulty and students can also focus on achieving other academic or co-curricular skills. In IITH, every segment is divided into 3 segments, and courses are allotted among these three segments. The course with more subject intake is a 3-credit course, with moderate intake is a 2-credit course and the courses with the least knowledge intake are 1-credit courses. Most grades in courses are awarded relatively and very few courses are awarded in an absolute grading system.

Internships are generally offered to students at the beginning of their 6th sem and different companies like Deloitte, Google, Jio, Tata, provide placements for students. these internships are very helpful for students during their placements. branches like computer science engineeing get internships in software-based companies and other branches get their internships in both core field and software related fields.

campus placements are generally offered in 4th year ie from the 7th semester. companies like Google, Deloitte, oracle, Jio, Paytm, etc conduct placement drives in IITH. The highest package offered is around 65LPA and the average package offered is 20LPA. percentage of students getting placed generally differs according to their branch. maximum placement can be seen in branches like computer science engineering, engineering sciences, AI, and electrical engineering. students also plan on doing their further studies. I plan on doing masters in chemical engineering in Canada after completing my bachelors degree

The overall fee for students in IITH is about 150000. For students who have joined the institution through reservation quota like SC and SC will only have to pay 50000 as the fee for each semester. Additionally, scholarship schemes are available for students who can not afford the entire fee. Internships are provided to 3rd-year students (few 2nd-year students also). Placement drives are also conducted by very well-established companies like Google, Deloitte, Accenture, Oracle etc.

IITH campus life gives you many opportunities to participate in different clubs and events. The annual technical fest of IITH, Elan and Nvision is generally held in the first week of March. many other events like Milan and Diesta are also conducted on the campus where Milan is the inter-hostel competition and Diesta is the inter-departmental competition. Students can be a part of various clubs on the campus like Vibes, shuffle, rang de manch, tinkerers, kludge, etc. Inter IIT competitions are a great platform for students to showcase their skills in sports and cultural events. The library in IITH gives you access to a wide range of books and the new library will be under use in the coming few months. Every classroom is equipped with functioning projectors for student benefit. Labs are also well equipped and all safety precautions are taken.

First-year students in IITH are generally allotted double-sharing rooms. after the end of the first year, they are shifted to single-sharing rooms. In hostel rooms, a cot, table, chair, and cupboard are provided to every student with proper ventilation. Radiant cooling is provided during hot summer to maintain the temperature of the rooms. In IITH, there a 2 messes, the old and the new mess. The menu in both the messes is the same but the caterers differ. Fixed menu is decided according to the day. The taste and the quality of food in the mess is good. There is also a canteen in IITH which operates till 3 am. BTech students must live in a hostel rather than renting a room outside the campus. Hostel fees and mess fees are generally paid during the allocation of the course in the beginning.

The admission process was very convenient for students. The course can be availed by first clearing the jee mains and jee advanced examinations. The results of the examination are then declared and josaa counselling starts. Choices are filled according to one's preferences and interests after the counseling starts. All the details regarding application forms, dates, and fees regarding counseling will be declared on the josaa website. Jee mains examination is conducted twice a year. The first session was conducted in January and the second session was conducted in April. The difficulty level of the question paper was moderate with maths being moderately difficult and physics and chemistry being comparatively easier. The difficulty level of JEE advanced was moderate but lengthy with physics and chemistry having a moderate level of difficulty and maths being difficult. For chemical engineering in IITH, the cutoff rank for males is 7123 and for females is 11677 in the open category.

There is no interview to get into IITH. The criteria for admission is the JEE Advance entrance examination. We have to register and participate in JOSAA counselling for the admission. I had spent two years in prep for JEE advance.
