Course Curriculum Overview

2

Since i am currently in first year and i always had the dream to code something big since the 9th standard. i had developed many bots for instagram and whatsapp which made me crave to be a computer science engineer and hence i opted for this course Till now the curriculum has taught me 2 programming languages along with 2 core subjects. The core subjects have helped me to understand the basic root of how computers work to the best level. It fascinates me that i have learnt the subejct of digital circuits and logic design According to me the curriculum should remove the useless subjects like Workshop Engineering, Engineering drawing, environmental studies, management principles etc also the 75% attendance criteria should also be removed lol the exams are conducted twice per semester and i feel it very genuine

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The internship opportunities open from 3 year we can opt for a 2 month internship in 3rd year and 6 month internship in 4th year Tier one companies like microsoft comes once in two years. amazon and flipkart come regularly. apart from that google etc and other small companies as well come regularly for placement and internship opportunities. many students get pre placement opportunities from these companies. students from a lower branch can also sit in these placements if he has a decent cg and he knows tech stack

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for general and obc students is 88000 plus 25000 if the student wishes to opt for hostels the fee for ews students is quite less st and sc students just have to pay for the hostels i feel it is wrong because there are many people who make fake sc st certificates to get admission and along with that the students dont even have to pay the semester fees. i think the fee should only be based on ews sections although corruption takes place at that level as well. Scholarships are available if the student ks performing really great in his her course with no carry subjects or supply exams with a decent cg the campus employment or internship opportunities are available from the 2nd year

Campus Life

2

My experience has been mid. The securities are very tight. girls have to be in the hostel before 10 pm whether first year or final year :(. even boys of firsr year have to be before 10 pm for the first year. we are not allowed to sit in the dark areas or parks in night. there is no student privacy in this college. the hostels are shit especially the mess system. the canteens have zero cleaning. Library is okay the only place to find peace two annual fests one utkansh the cultural fest and one techniti the tecnical fest are conducted. small one day fests are also celebrated like bharat dhwani the foundation day of nit j punjab day etc but they are mid. j believe the college can do better if the director does not eat the funds and the student body actually falls in the hands of students. right now a professor controls it.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostels are shit and more than 15 years old. they just repaint the same hostels again and again. in a two seater room they have made us live with 4 people. two fans three tables for 4 people like hell. no generator facility. we die in summers due to heat. mess food is trash. we are not allowed to go inside the kitchen because they are afraid someone will make a video and viral it. the kitchen is very unhygienic once we found cockroaches inside our coffee even captured photos.

Admission

The admission was based on the process of JEE for which i worked hard for two years and secured a general rank of 24493. My category rank was 6210 and by which i got a seat into the computer science category. The exam is conducted twice a year in shifts in the first quarter of the year itself. According to me the admission process should be more streamlined. it should be based on what type of engineering the student wishes to pursue and the test should be based on that. these types of tests only focus on brain development and enhancement rather than preparing us for the future that lies ahead.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
