What I liked the most about the syllabus is very much helpful for those who seeks to appear in UPSC examinations. The curriculum is not NET oriented. So if you are preparing for NET examination in future, the syllabus won't help you that much. Classes start at 9.30 and ends at 1.30.it varies in accordance with dates and semester.

There are no internships offered by History department of pondicherry university. But other departments provide internships such as MBA, MSW, MCOM, Science programs etc. We don't have to do projects in the end semester in History department.

For History, there is no campus placements. But for departments such as MBA, Mcom, and other science programs campus placements are there. Students become eligible for the campus placements at the 4th semester. About 20 to 30 percent student are eligible for campus placements. My plan after getting the masters is to appear for the UPSC Examination.

For masters in History, the admission fees is around 19000 including the 1st semester fees. For the even semesters(2, 4) the semester fees is around 1700.Third semester fee is around 9000. There are many scholarships available for students such as state scholarship (such as Egrantz), central scholarship, and scholarship for each semseter topper. No campus employment available.

The main attraction of PU is the campus life itself. It is a wonderful experience. Students from all parts of the country come to seek education and thus the university celebrates wide variety of festivals both religious and cultural. There are efficient infrastructures provided by the university such as a well established library and reading room, good hostel facilities, etc. There are many sports activities also such as footbal, basketball, cricket, badminton, volleyball, tennis, etc.

Hostels are well established and good infrastructures. A room is shared by 3 students. In a room there will be 3 beds, three study tables and 3 chairs. Meals is south indian based and is of average quality. 3 days in a week mess provides non veg food.

The admission was through CUET PG entrance examination. After the examination you have to apply seperately for the course you seek to study in Pondicherry University. Based on the mark secured in CUET exam, the university publishes merit list through which one can get admission in the university. The amunt of admission fees varies according to the courses. There are reservations for students from backward classes along with other reservations. The admission process was smooth and the staffs were very friendly.
