Remarks

I've passed my 3 years of college life in this college. I can say that the resources available here in this college is good but there is a huge need for good teaching and stuff in order to produce successful engineers from this college. The college is managed by the government and Officer in charge currently. But I personally feel that there is a huge scope of improvement in terms of college management as well.

Entrance Preview

Honestly speaking, before filling up my choices for WBJEE counseling I never ever heard about this college. In my 2nd round of counseling, I got this college with Computer Science as my major. As I always wanted to study Computer Science, I opted for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is more of an old-fashioned. The modern market of industry and IT sectors need much more from a student that the syllabus is providing us. In fact, the university is also recreating the whole curriculum as far as the IT demands are concerned.

Internships Opportunities

No. Our college doesn't provide any internship opportunity integrating with various companies and the situation is getting worse. Students need to spend a lot of money and time in searching a matching internship opportunity from outside. Trust me its getting harder day by day.

Placement Experience

1

The placement and job opportunities are also really bad. The year 2013 was really successful in terms of placements in our department. But from then its bizarre. For a stat. in this year only 11 students are placed out of 56 students in Computer Science Department from pool campus drives. No on-campus placement drives are conducted in our college.

College Events

2.5

There are mainly 3 big events that every year takes place with grand arrangement. 1. Freshers welcome 2. Saraswati Puja 3. Annual fest Besides that there are also some events that takes place every year. Those are- Republic Day celebration, Independence Day celebration, Biswakarma Puja, Farewell Party etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for the college is of the lower side. As its a Govt. college the tuition fees for every semester is Rs.6000(in case of Computer Science) and examination fees are Rs.1200 In short, we can say the expense of the college is very less. There are quite a few events that take place in the college, where the students are asked to give Chanda to organize the events properly.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no scholarship available for students organized by the college. Only the selective students only get the SC/ST/OBC scholarships.

Campus Life

4

Extracurricular activities and sports are held but no in a regular manner. The lab facilities are good actually in case of Computer Science but there is no proper guidance from the faculties. Competitions like robotics, debates etc are held only in Annual fest but not every year.

Alumni/Alumna

There are lots of alumni placed here and there in India and even outside the country. But in case of Computer Science Dept. they are not that much help for a referral to a company, or recommendation for an internship, or organizing a placement drive.

Exam Structure

There are total 8 semesters in 4 years. Every semester includes 2 internals, lab exams, and final exams. Out of that only the lab exams and the final exams are held thoroughly. But in case of internals, it depends upon the teacher whether he/she takes 1 or 2 or no internals.

Admission

I appeared in WBJEE and got a decent rank. Then I filled up my choices for college and subject combination online. Then in 2nd round of e-counselling I got this college with Computer Science as my major and I locked it. After that I went to the college on said date and deposited the admission fees of 19k+ and my admission was successful.

Faculty

3

There are so many talented faculty members in our department. But there is a lack of sincerity, teaching quality, awareness, and counseling among the faculty members. There are 2-3 professors who are actually very good in their field and are very good at teaching in our department. Moreover, they are student friendly. Bust rest of them are not satisfactory.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
