Course Curriculum Overview

The course is based under the ICAR curriculum. All the faculty members are well experienced and knowledgeable with various achievements and papers under their names. The course provides a kneen knowledge of the importance of forest in the improvement of our living conditions. The terminal examinations are a bit intensely planned but can be cracked if preparations are made regularly with regular attendance in classes. The faculty:student ratio is ideal.

Internships Opportunities

There is no intership for forestry department provided by the institute. Rather students go for internship with reference from the faculty members. The faculty members provide various projects and activities inside and outside the institute campus.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structures are reasonable for a central university with mess fees updated regularly. All of the major scholarships provided by the central as well as the respective states are made available.

Campus Life

The annual festivals include a General Freshers Meet, Racaf or Sonabyss, Synergy for sports and Shristi as a tech fest. All necessary books are available in the central library with the semester curriculum related books provided by the book bank. All classrooms are provided with ambient lighting, ceiling fans, desks and benches or chairs. The campus provides a gym, football ground, basketball and batminton courts, extracurricular rooms for music clubs etc.

Hostel Facilities

A room is provided with ambient lighting, a ceiling fan, desk, chair and beds and cupboard. An average quality meal is provided. The hostel registration are all done simultaneously with the semester registration and are quite affordable. The institute is a residential institute and restricts use of PGs and rentals outside the campus.

Admission

The entrance exam known as NEE-1, 2 and 3 are eligible to students who have cleared 10th, 12th and diploma respectively. Bsc Forestry is eligible to students who have cleared the 12th standard. The application form is available on the official website of the institute( nerist.ac.in) with an application fee of 1k and starts from January onwards. Reservation for OBC, SC,ST and PWD are available. The admission process is very Swift and fast with the commencement of class just after the admission. Overall, the admission process is just like any other admission process.

Interview Experience

The extrance exam can be cracked with just minimum preparation from a 12th standard perspective. The exam is divided into three, i.e. physics, chemistry and Biology( or maths for engineering courses).

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placement in the final year final semester. Different companies come for placement and also number of offers. Among which a package upto 12lakhs being the highest among the placement offers. Out of 10 students approximately 6 students get selected which is a very good number. I have already graduated from this college and I am planning for further studies.

Course - bsc forestry syllabus is well defined based on the new syllabus from the year 2020 batch for affiliation with icar. Involves compulsory 4 months internship in the final year (4 year course) Faculty - total 9 + guest lecturers They are very experienced and one of the very dedicated to their work. Teaching is through presentation, notes, experiences and learning from practical activities. Exam- mid sem and end sem in between each semester. Involves Quizes and practicals.

Placement Experience:

Placement is eligible for final year students according to the cgpa prefered by the external companies or agents. Companies visited are PRADHAN, Efu-station and other companies. They provided minimum of 10-15 candidates. Highest offer is upto 16LPA and minimum is around 3.5 LPA. Average is about 5-6 LPA. Pecentage of students getting placement is about 15-20 percent. After getting the degree i will go for upsc exams for post of IFS or other exams for jobs.

Remarks:

I have enjoyed my 3 years of B.Sc CS in VOU. The college was good and the infrastructure was quite good too. Faculty is also supportive and helping. Updated labs are useful and you will face no worries here.
