Course Curriculum Overview

4

When I gave my entrance exam for NERIST, i wanted to choose Civil engineering but when my turn came to pick a course, all civil engineering kotas were filled, so I went with my second choice which was electrical engineering.

Internships Opportunities

5

Currently I'm in B.tech second year and I haven't done any paid internship and haven't done any major projects. I have done some internship but they didn't pay me any money. I have done a internship in NEEPCO for 21 days and a internship in nirjuli power grid for 14 days.

Placement Experience

3

Very few students get placement in my college. Students from 6 semester are eligible for campus placement. NEEPCO and OIL are the one who frequently visit NERIST with placement offers. A minimum of 7.5 CGPA is needed for placement offers.

Fees and Financial Aid

We pay 50000 rs per year for all categories and it's increasing every year. All the fees are included in year-wise fees. National scholarships for ST/SC students are available under umbrella scheme. General category students don't get any scholarship.

Campus Life

5

There are three main event in my college, which are RACAF ( which is cultural fest of our college), synergy (which is the sports week of our college) and SHRISTI (which is the technical fest of our college). RACAF usually occurs in the month of November and synergy occurs in the month of February and SHRISTI occurs in the month of April

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility are good. They provide electricity 24 hours, free wifi, and hostel rooms are a little bit small. They provide good quality foods during breakfast and dinner but somehow lunch is made very badly. while entering nerist they provide a hostel where all new students are allotted to stay for a year, so that they can know how nerist is and to save them from ragging from senior students. After a year they are allotted to blocks where all the students are staying except fresher. Hostel fees are very reasonable and affordable.

Admission

I choose NERIST over other colleges because of its fee structure which Is very low. I gave my entrance exam for NERIST when I was in class 10, if I was not selected then my plan B was to attend class 11 in PCM and after my 12 exams I would have tried for JEE and try to get into any engineering college.

Faculty

4

In our college, every department faculty to students ratio is 30:300 and my department faculties are very student friendly and very approachable. I like my Head of department, Radak Blange sir as he is very student friendly and very easy to conserve. Their was a teacher OPR sir which I didn't like because I didn't understand what he was teaching and after our exams my hoke batch got E grade which is bare minimum to pass a subject but now that he has retired I don't have any teacher whom I dislike. There are two exam in a semester, mid-sem and end-sem. If we study diligently it's very easy to pass the course.

Night Life

4

It's very peaceful. The Gym of NERIST close at 8 pm, cafeteria at 11 pm , library at 2am for boys and 10 PM for girls and NERIST main gate close at 11 pm . Visitor can visit NERIST from 8:00 am in the morning to 8:00 PM in the evening.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was good. But it should be better by including more practical and site visits for better learning. The exams were not that much difficult you can pass easily. Exam frequency was also good

The Electrical Engineering course curriculum is quite comprehensive, covering key areas like circuit analysis, electronics, and power systems, which has well-prepared me for real-world applications, although incorporating more hands-on projects and industry insights could further enhance its relevance.

The campus scenario is improving day by day but it is not still upto the mark. Many companies come for hiring but most of which offer only average package of 4LPA which is very less compared to other colleges. Highest package ranges from 8-10 LPA.

The placement are very good here. I have joined recently so yah I don't know much about the highest and average placement of the institute. The highest percentage among all is from mechanical. The students of mechanical engineering had a higher percentage of jobs as compared to other branches. I will do M.Tech after my B.Tech.

From 7th semester, we are eligible for placements. I am from cse branch and most students of CSE get placed with a decent package. Let's see what happens with my batch as my batch has the most students as compared to other batches. Last year the placements were not so good due to recession. Other branches like mechanical, ece, civil too get companies. I don't know about electrical engineering. But we get good number of opportunities for cse.
