Life at IITR

Electronics and communication engineering is evergreen branch, giving you opportunities in almost every field, the placement stats are very good with average package of 22 LPA. Gender ratio is still an area need to be improved, current gender ratio is 4:1. The faculties are very great, having done many researches and PhD holders in their respective field. The exams are conducted every semester, mid semester exams and end semester exams, the weight age of each is decided by professors, some professors are very strict regarding grading and doesn't give much preference to student well being, but majority of professors are supportive.

The internship stats are also very great for IITR, the top companies come to pick interns from the cllg , including google,Microsoft, JP Morgan ,BCG etc. The stipends goes from generally 50k to 4.5 lakhs per month for a period of 2 months.

The placements stats of IIT Roorkee is pretty great, for ece the average package is 22 LPA. You get to sit for placements in your 4th year, with many big companies coming to get you like Google, Microsoft, KLA, DE Shaw etc. Offering almost every profile. More than 80% of students gets placed on campus while other get the job off campus. Highest package goes upto 2 to 3 Cr per annum which is generally international package, while domestic package goes upto 1.5 to 2 Cr.

The tuition fee is 10000 per semester and hostel and mess fe and other charges are around 40000 per semester. Though financial aid is provided to the needful, 0 tuition fee for students having total income below 100000 INR, and 2/3rd tuition fee off for income 1 to 5 lakhs. Other scholarships are also provided for academic excellent students and many other scholarships which can be checked on main site of IIT Roorkee.

The campus life at IITR is best personally for me. You get a beautiful campus with day and night canteens, maintained greenery, and Ganga canal going through 5 minute distance from campus. There are different clubs for technical and cultural enthusiastic people, and it also focuses on entrepreneurship, having 2 funding cells in the campus. IIT Roorkee has very good sports culture and facilities, that is justified by being the Genral Champions of sports for year 2022 among 23 IITs.

The hostels are not that great at IIT Roorkee if compared to many other IITs, you get a bed, tea table, study table and an almirah in your room. Which is double shared till 2nd year after that you get your single room. The food provided in mess is pretty decent, and on special occasion and once a month, you get a special dinner with a big and better menu. You can opt for hostel and mess along with registration process and fee payment through the fee portal on the main site.

First you have to clear jee mains, then you'll be qualified for jee advanced. The cutoffs are decided by NTA yearly, almost 10 lakhs students appear in jee mains every year, and around 1.5 lakh qualify for jee advanced. Then you go through counselling rounds where seats in different IITs is alloted to you.
