Likes

The night life of jnu is really a great thing. People gather at dhabas at late-night and have chill.
The campus is so huge and lush green so even in polluted Delhi you are at a good place.
The academics of jnu is very strong. The faculty members are so experienced and well trained.

Dislikes

JNU is not good at promoting sports . It has facilities but the scopes are limited.

Course Curriculum Overview

I am currently pursuing German Hons. And I chose it because I have always been interested in visiting Germany and its neighbouring countries. Since language learning gives you the opportunity to visit that country. We have 3 faculty members right now in the first semester for language teaching and 1 for history. That means For 40 students there are 3 teachers. All are highly qualified and well trained to teach language. Out of 4 , 2 are PhD scholars and 2 are professors. If we talk about exams then We have 2 sessional exams and one end semester exam in one semester.

Class Size: 48Course Fees: INR 268 per year

Placement Experience

Jnu has placement cell for language and technical courses. The students are eligible for placement in third year. Various MNCs like Amazon Google visit for placements. Highest package for BTech go upto 40 lakh and for language it goes upto 20 lakh. However Most students opt for higher studies. Even I also want to study further and try for lectureship.

Fees and Financial Aid

JNU is one of the most affordable universities of India. We have only ?268 academic fees for one semester. For hostel, you have to spend 3k/yr excluding food. If we talk about scholarships , then every language provide scholarships and also opportunity to study abroad at minimum costs. However the university itself provides MCM scholarships of ?2k/month for those whose parental income is less than 2.5 lakh/yr.

Campus Life

All the departments have their separate fests and freshers party. For instance in German we have freshers party and annual German week event where special deligates also come to enjoy the event. We have a central library in the campus and separate library for each department. You need not worry about books here in JNU. The classrooms are very neat clean and have proper lighting. All classrooms have AC and fans and are fitted with digital boards and speakers. To be honest JNU is not very good in sports. However We have everything for sports like an outdoor stadium, badminton courts , tennis courts , basketball, volleyball etc. We have students activity centre where people from different clubs practice their specialities.

Hostel Facilities

When you take admissions , you are given a dormitory where each room has multiple beds. But after a few months you get your hostel which are loaded with double bed . Meal quality is honestly very good. You get 3 meals a day. For the registration of hostel you have to submit application at the time of admission. Then you will get a dormitory instantly and after a few months a hostel list is published there you will get your hostel.

Hostel Fee: INR 3000 per year

Admission

For admission in JNU you have to pass cuet exam with a good percentage.Firstly you must have to opt English and general test combination. If you want to pursue a good language course then you have to score approx 85 % in this combination. German and French are the languages which have the highest cutoffs. So I one wants a good language course then he or she must score good.

Truth About Hidden IPCW (DU)

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option

Bachelor of Language at JNU

I applied in Delhi University for Bachelor of Management studies got Aryabhatta college as it was mistakenly my first preference, I had enough marks to get admission into a better college compared to Aryabhatta college for BMS, So I left that. Than I applied in Jawaharlal Nehru University for BA Hons French as it seemed very interesting course. And compared to Aryabhatta college, JNU was very cheap, had hostel and very other facilities like 24*7 library, college life. The fee for Aryabhatta college was 27000 I guess and 268 for JNU. I aplied in these two universities only , luckily scored good so I didn't have to wait for second list. The admission for JNU was also very smooth, You have to fill the application form online after cuet result(Generally 85-90% is safe score), it cost around 250 rupees, then after result , you have to visit university with your documents like 10th,12th marksheet, Aadhar card, migration certificate, character certificate and within one day you will get your admission process done. You'll be allocated with your hostel and ID card, library slip then and there....Read More

Review of Jawaharlal Nehru University

I applied for delhi University but it's free. Structure is quite high as compares to JNU.Jnu is affordable for students and provide huge campus with lots of opportunity and placements. First you have to score above 75 in your 12th board. Then you have written Jee mains and you have to score well; there is a benefit to their categories. JNU: FAR FROM EXPECTATIONS (in a good way)

candidates must have more than 75% marks in 12th board exams for eligibility. application form for exam (JEE MAINS) is found on jeemain.nta.nic.in website I did not recieve reservation benefits other than income based EWS reservation.
