Remarks

They should bring more companies and provide better placement scenario.

Entrance Preview

I had given WBJEE and had a rank in of around 30k. The college had respected BNB sir, so I had more inclination towards the college. Also we were the third batch of the college

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is good and well as the teachers. They are all well qualified but the course is not at all in line with the industry standard. It was very difficult to get a job based on the course curriculum. The labs are good but the course structure should change.

Internships Opportunities

No it doesn't provide any stipend and internship are to be done by the students themselves. Not sure whether they have changed or not.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placements were average during our time. We were the third batch so a few more companies came for campusing as compared to the last two years. There were many fake companies which came to college during my time, but there were genuine ones too. I got placed in eClerx with a package of 3lpa. The highest package was given by Cummins (4.5 lpa), polycab (3.5 lpa)

College Events

3.5

There were cultural programs in college, like annual fest, Bengali new year celebration, Freshers welcome, tech craze which is the technical fest of the college. Different colleges participated which made it a grand success. Also many eminent personalities have been a part of the annual fest organized by the cultural committee.

Fee Structure And Facilities

When I passed out the fees for four years were around ~4 lakhs for the entire duration. However it increases if one avails the hostel. The fees included the tution fees only. All other expenses were exclusive. The first semester was around 50k and the rest of the 7 semesters were 35k each.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes the college offered TFW i.e. tution fee waiver scheme which was an initiative by the West Bengal Government, wherein students whose family earned less than 2lpa annually had to pay only 5k for first semester and 2.5k for the rest of the semester

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio I would say was more for CS and ECE batch but less for Electrical batch. The labs were properly set, there were ample instruments to work on, however some of them were faulty. During my tenure there were football, cricket competition and now recently there has been annual sports day as well. Robotics was also there. There weren't any debates that were held.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostel facility were horrible. It was worst. The food was pathetic. It was a 3 person sharing room. There were many protest and hartals regarding the food quality in the hostel. The hostel had a washing machine in each block and also adequate number of washrooms.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes the college has started an alumni association since the last two years just before the Durga Puja and it is successful. Seniors were always very helpful in providing inputs

Exam Structure

The exams were properly structured such that no two exams overlapped. The practicals used to take place a week before the commencement of the theory exams. There was a strict policy of cheating. Anyone found cheating used to be given 30 mins less time to complete.

Admission

There was a particular counseling date and I had already made up my mind to join that particular college. I had the option of taking CS or ECE, but I had a knack for electronics so I went with ECE. After booking my seat we went to the college and got all the formalities completed.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is good. All the students in the electronics section were happy with the teachers. All the teachers were holding a minimum of M Tech degree, some were even undergoing PhD. There were professors having a rich industry experience as well. But as we all know, not all the teachers had the capability to control the class.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin
