Course Curriculum Overview
I was getting admission to B.Sc.(prog) physical sciences with a chemistry course. I opted for this course over any honors course for the reason that it is helpful for the candidate who is unsure about the subject in which he/she wants to do post-graduation, as this course provides a choice of subject. The faculty-student ratio is above average and manageable, to say the least. Most of the faculty teaching at Kirori mal college are quite experienced and have good subject knowledge except for a few. The exams happen as per the Delhi University calendar which is released beforehand so that you can prepare for it timely. DU follows a semester system and has 6 semesters in total across 3 years of graduation, 2 semesters constitute each year.
Internships Opportunities
There is a society called Avenue that keeps you informed about all the internships available on the campus as well as Delhi if one is part of the society or is added to their WhatsApp group.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees in KMC are quite reasonable. It was 14500 rs in the first year and around 12000 in the second year. It is to be paid online. The scholarships available are through University and government only and not any college-specific scholarship. Campus jobs are available for the ones mostly pursuing honors degrees and the placements depend on the skills individuals possess and not the course.
Campus Life
The environment and vibe around the campus are very engaging and social. Different fests happen around different times of the year organized by various societies in the college ranging from debating society to civil services society, music, dance, environmental society, and many more. The library is the best part of the college, it covers a vast set of books. One can issue 3 books at a time with the Library cards provided.
Admission
The mode of application and admission to the college was online. The application form was released on the official Delhi University website, and the form makes you apply for all the Delhi University colleges with certain exceptions like St. Stephens College which has its separate application. The fee for applying is 250 rs for general/OBC candidates and 100 rs for SC/ST/PWD candidates. The application form mentions categories for availing reservation benefits and it can be availed if the candidate is applicable. After that a cut-off list is released on the portal and one can check the colleges he/she is eligible to apply for admission.
