Course Curriculum Overview :
The course contains significant information on using food science and technologies while primarily focusing on practical knowledge. The faculty: student ratio is approximately 1:30, but in technology, it is 1:20. While the faculties are highly experienced in their respective fields, they all try to provide as much practical knowledge in comparison with theoretical classes. This is considered significant for associating the faculties to bond with their students, which makes it enjoyable for the students to understand the context. The academic calendars are published by the department at the initial stage of the semester which provide information on tentative dates of exam and assignment submission. These are properly followed in the University. However, it is important to follow regular classes, making the exams easier. Following regular classes increases the chance of passing the exam for the students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Once the fees are declared for the course, it most likely not be hiked for the students. However, the mess fees depend on the service providers associated with the university and can be changed. There are plenty of central scholarships available for the students. However, most information is declared by the department for the students to apply for. I haven't received any job, however, assisted by the professor in for applying a 6 month's internship at Delhi AIIMS.
Campus Life :
There are fest like Holi, different international conferences, and Pongal are celebrated in every department and most of the time students are allowed to attend. Besides, regional fests such as Durga puja and other cultural fests are widely celebrated on campus. Tech fests are conducted in the month of March-April. Students are required to make library cards for accessing books and there are plenty of spaces with good internet connections that help students to access information from paid journals. The reading room is also there for the students to continue their studies in a peaceful manner Hostel rooms are spacious and have to be shared between 3 students. There are sports events including football and cricket tournaments by the university. Besides, yoga, dance, debate, and performing arts have been regularly practiced by the students Social groups such as confession and LGBTQ support groups are there to help needy individuals alongside, cultural clubs run by students.
Hostel Facilities :
There are beds, study tables, and shared cupboards for the students. Besides, light and fans are provided along with study lamps. Mostly South Indian meals are provided. However, aloo paratha and some other north Indian foods are given as well. 3 main meals and 2 snacks are given. after admission, slips are generated from the department for hostel allocation and submitted to the Mother Teresa hostel for the final process. While staying in a hostel is free for girl students, the meal fees are mandatory for all. Outside, rooms are available with a rent of 5k/months+ for electronics and food.
Admission :
55% in Graduation, reservation quota requires 50% in the overall marks from graduation. The Application form, fees, and dates can be found on the university website which explains every step in detail. The reservation benefits are only available for the university entry exam and graduation marks. The process can be improved by providing details of required documents on the website for the admission counseling which will help students to be prepared properly.
