Course Curriculum Overview

1

I chose this course because I have a keen interest in Electronics but not in Communication part. Actually from next year branch is going to introduce in my institute Electronic in VLSI that was not on my time . Some faculty are good but some are not. You will have to work very hard to gain marks in Semester examination because of very poor checking from faculties. Mostly teachers don't teach much as we required. Although, they all are passed their post graduation from IITs and NITs but then also they just try to cover syllabus ( that also not completely) Term paper are two ( MINOR -1 &2) but from now they are combined to Mid semester examination. You can pass this but for good grades you have to work definitely hard for it.

Internships Opportunities

2

Many companies like Amazon, Intuit, and Trilogy come for internship opportunities on our campus, But very few are hired for 2 months of internship. From a class, only 7 students got interned. Mostly got interned in CSE department

Placement Experience

2.5

TPO (Training and placement office) is mainly responsible for our placements. Students from the 7th semester become eligible for the placements. Mainly top companies like Goldman Sachs have visited but no offer made from them. The highest package is given by Microsoft of 49 LPA from ECE students only. Almost 90 per cent of students get the placements. My first target is placed in a good hardware company.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the general and OBC category ( family income greater than 5 lakhs ): approximately 81.5k For general and OBS category (family income between 1 to 5 lakhs): 46.5k For SC, ST, PwD and general category (income less than 1 lakh): 25.5k I didn't get any scholarship from my institute

Campus Life

2.5

Life on campus is pretty good. As we have a campus full of positive vibes. We almost have grounds or courts for all the sports. Fest is not that good but you can have fun in between your semesters. The library is a bad part of our institute as it opens from 9:00 am to 5:30 am which is our class time and it remains closed on off days. There are many clubs for different skills like Octav is a music club, Kalakaar is a Drama club, LADC for debate and many more.

Hostel Facilities

2

As I am in my 4th year now so we are given a single room for each person. But in the 3rd year, we have to be in sharing with a person and the same in 2nd year. But the 1st-year room is shared with 4 students. Bed, Table and chair are given in our room. The meal of our mess is not so good. Registration is done 1 week before the start of an odd semester

Admission

The entrance exam is JEE(Joint Entrance examination) mains to get the admission to NIT. The cut-off for which was approximately 91 percentile for the general category NTA conducted this examination and the fee for application at my time was 1500 rupees. I have availed the benefit of the Home State quota for my admission to my institute which is given to all the students who have completed their intermediate from Punjab State. Improvement in the admission process can be done by selecting students from other states also with a specific quota of EWS.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
