Remarks

When I was a student of this college, this was under Visvesvaraya Technological University. I personally feel that the curriculum offered by VTU and the textbooks prescribed by them was better than the current autonomous syllabus. Nowadays, there are many new autonomous colleges that have come up which are better than NIE in terms of syllabus, infrastructure offered, faculties and campus placements as well.

Entrance Preview

I wrote Common Entrance Test conducted at the state level and i was ranked 1144. I chose National Institute of Engineering because of its sheer reputation. I is ranked one of best 50 colleges across India.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

First two semester of Engineering contains basic subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electrical, Basic Electronics. This helps the student to get the basic understanding of all necessary subjects that are required for a student to make his/her foundation strong. In the final year, there will be a project where the candidates should work as a team(min of 2). At the end of 8th semester, the candidate is supposed to submit the detailed report.

Internships Opportunities

No. My college does not provide internship directly. However, as part of campus recruitment that happens in 6th semester, students are provided opportunity to work in companies like Intel, Cisco, Philips etc.

Placement Experience

4

During my college days, there was 100% placements in my branch. companies like Intel, cisco, philips, netapp, IBM, Hp, Thoughtworks came for recruiting us. Our starting salary was 3.25 Lakhs and there were some companies that offered us around 10 Lakhs as well.

College Events

3.5

There was a lot of coding competitions, cultural fests, sporting events (both at college level and at University level as well). Students participated in all the above mentioned activities and the TA/DA given to the participants was sufficient. There are many students from my college who has represented Nationals in various sporting activities like shuttle, cricket, chess.

Fee Structure And Facilities

When i joined Bachelors degree in 2006, fees was quite reasonable. For free seat (government seat) it was around 16000/-. For payment seat, the fees was around (86000/-). On top of it, college used to charge library fee, uniform fee, sports fee and miscellaneous which amounted to around 5000/- per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Unfortunately our college does not provide any loan facility nor scholarship(s) for students directly. But the best part is, if you get a seat in my college, irrespective of branch you will be getting the loan for all banks that will come in your mind.

Campus Life

3.5

Gender ratio varies with respect to branches. If one is planning to study in core branches like Mechanical, Electrical or civil, the majority will be boys(around 85%). When we consider computer science, Information science and Electronics & Communication it will be almost 50-50.

Hostel Facilities

3

Our hostels are old buildings and students who come from a different place would not like to stay in hostels. Food is also average in terms of quality that is provided. Hostel fees comes up to 4000/- including food and it will be on twin sharing basis. If you want to have enough food, please make sure that you are in line within 8 PM. Same is applicable for morning breakfast as well.

Alumni/Alumna

There's no such official alumni network that is being maintained as of now. But if you meet any seniors who have passed out from NIE, they will be ready to help you out in case of guiding you for shaping your career.

Exam Structure

As per VTU guidelines there were 3 internals held in a semester. Average of best 2 was taken into account. Every week we had to attend labs and write records and findings which was a bit tiring activities. One main drawback was that there was a set of pre-defined set of programs that we had to execute in our entire semester. This actually limited our scope of learning.

Admission

Based on my CET results and my 12th marks, I got direct admission (government seat). Admission process was pretty straight forward. It happens based on the rank that one has secured. This entire admission process happens in CET cell in Bangalore where the candidate needs to fill up the form containing his/her personal details like name, DOB etc. Once all the personal details are filled, he/she needs to enter the preferences. Based on the preferences and availability the candidate will be awarded

Faculty

3.5

My college was known for experienced faculties who had in depth understanding and expertise on their subjects. Unfortunately, in recent times, this quality is decreasing as the subjects (that needs great level of understanding) are thought by new faculties.

Students in my college have a very good amount of campus placements where students become eligible from the final year 7th semester however the placement cell starts training from the 1st year means 1st semester itself like training for aptitude test, coding and mock interviews. Top it companies like TCS infosys, wipro, Accenture, capgemini, cognizant, IBM, tech mahindra mind tree. The campus receives 300+ offers. The average package 8 - 10 LPA and highest package 54 LPA. Every year 90% students are placed. After my degree i am planning to higher studies in abroad.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is generally detailed and aligned with industry Expectations but there is still scope for modernisation in certain areas.Overall i would like to rate 8/10. The syllabus include both theoretical and multiple lab components which ensures hands on learning. The practical labs like programming work and project with learning help students understand how concepts are applied in real work places. A few theory heavy subjects feel outdated and no longer match the current industry demand this could be revised or replaced.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester, but the overall placement scenario in DSCE for CSE is below average. Not even 50% of students get placed in good companies. Most students end up getting offers from mass recruiters or in sales and non-tech roles. Only a small percentage of top performers get decent technical packages. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture, Cognizant, and a few mid-tier companies visit the campus, but the number of high-package, core-tech roles is very limited. The average package is on the lower side compared to other top COMEDK colleges. Because of this, many students plan for higher studies, certification courses, or off-campus drives after completing the degree. The on-campus placement support definitely needs improvement, especially for technical roles.”

The students who are studying in 7th semester ( final year) are eligible for campus placements but before that in 5th semester there is pre placement training like aptitude everything. Top companies visit for placement like TCS , infosys, wipro, accenture, capegemini, IBM, techmahindra, Mindtree. Average there are 150-250 offers. Average package is 7-8 lpa. The highest package is 54 lpa at botify company. 85 % of students get placed at cse branch and ai amd ml and civil 30 - 50% . Overall 80% students gets placed. My plan is join a top product based company liek google with a good life.
