Remarks

Overall, it is one of the top 10 colleges in the country. If we leave the parent institute i.e. Pilani campus and some of the major IITs such as Bombay, Delhi and Kanpur and NITs such as Warangal, this college is better than all the other engineering colleges in India. It has state-of the-art infrastructure, highly qualified faculty members and staff and ample scope for recreational activities. One of the things that are exclusive about BITS is the exposure they provide. Two internships are provided to the students by the college itself in leading companies in the respective industries. Apart from that, there is a dedicated business incubator that promotes and funds innovative ideas that the students of this institute have.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Best course curriculum with no attendance criteria and with a relative grading procedure. All the campuses of BITS are follow the procedure of MIT which is the world's best University. This rule makes the student more free and self disciplined which is good for future.

Internships Opportunities

There are abundant Internship opportunities in BITS. There are PS-I and PS-II in which you have to Intern during your 2nd and 4th Year. Companies from all sectors hire from Campus.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are relatively very good for a campus that is just 10 years old. Being a Computer Science student, the average package for this subject was 16 lac per annum for CS. All the students who sat for placements (some students go for higher studies) got decent jobs. Considering the fact that they take around 15 lac fees for the complete 4 year course, the placements offered are decent but not at par with some of the leading IITs such as Bombay, Delhi and Kanpur. Big companies that offer majority of the placements for CS students are Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Direct I, Ebay, Zomato, SAP, Nutanix, etc. Highest package offered on campus for placement in India was 35 lac per annum by Nutanix.

College Events

4

Three fests-Arena(sports fest) ATMOS (technical and management fest) and pearl(cultural fest). All the three are quiet famous. Arena has footfal of over 100 colleges all over India. similar case for ATMOS. Pearl has already had famous singers like Vishal Shekhar, Farahn Akhtar. So you can just imagine the level of our fest. all the festival are celebrated with great pomp.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's not affordable.Fee structure is around 1,50,000 per semester. It increases by fifteen percent per semester. It includes hostel, mess tuition and any other smaller charges like student welfare, discipline charge, etc. To avail Gym facilities it is an additional of rupees seven hundred and fifty per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of Scholarships available to the students including the MERIT Scholarships [Exceptional performance] and the MERIT-cum-NEED scholarship [Good Performance along with low income ~8 lpa]. The scholarships are off 20%, 40% and 80% waiver on tuition fees. About 6% students get 80% Scholarship, 12% get 40% Scholarship and 24% get 20% Scholarship. Most of the students apply for a loan and it can very easily be availed from most of the banks - The Most Popular being SBI, Pilani.

Campus Life

4.5

There's a Club for almost everything, for every subject at Birla Institute of Technology and Science. If you feel that some club is missing - You can create your own club. There are three main festivals - Cultural Fest: OASIS - India's second largest Cultural Fest. There's the Sports Fest: BOSM [BITS Open Sports Meet] and the Technical Fest: APOGEE. The life in college is enjoyable.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

College Infrastructure: 8 hostels are there at BITS Pilani. The fee is Rs 12000 per semester. No idea about the PG option. The cost of the meal is Rs 112 per day. The quality of food is average. The quality of classroom is good. Labs are average. Library is one of the best. Dining Hall is Good. WiFi(LAN) facility is poor at our college.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni Network is strongest compared to all other institutions, universities in India and is very helpful, has frequent gatherings as well.

Exam Structure

Labs are compulsory but as attendance for classes is not compulsory its rather easy and chilled. Exams are divided into test 1 test 2 and comprehensive exam. There are some surprise tests which are rather easy and assignments are also quiet easy. Comprehensive exams are easier than test 1 and 2 and there are also open book exams.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty : The faculty is good, specially for science courses. All the faculty members take up a lot of research projects and involve students in them. The course structure is very well designed and is at par with the courses taught in any other IITs or top engineering colleges. Labs have state of art facilities and have grants from central government and state government for various researches. Grading system is relative and students do not need to attend classes as attendance is not compulsory (but it becomes a lot easier if you do attend class).

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like that the course doesn't feel outdated. Along with the regular subjects we spend a lot of time on coding, projects, and problem solving so it feels connected to what companies actually expect. As a second year student i already feel like i am building skills that i will be able to use during internships and placements and not just preparing for semester exams

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

The placements are comparatively more in this college, as there is more industry exposure. Students are eligible for placements from around 3-2 (3rd yr-II sem) to 4-2 (4th yr- II sem). Companies like Amazon, Cognizant, NCR often visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 1.2 cr (International offer). Around 90% students who were eligible got placement. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
