Remarks

I really enjoy the campus life here as the students are very friendly. My department often organises seminars, workshops etc, which are very much helpful for us. The institute has also provided us with computers and internet facility.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Course contained all the detailed subjects of chemical engineering from Fluid dynamics chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, etc also there was mathematics till 5th semester

Internships Opportunities

Yes, at Dsp or Cpwd stipend is not given but our college arranges companies like l &t , Honeywell, Hul, Amazon, microsoft, ntpc, dewshaw etc. who gave stipend for the internship.

Placement Experience

4

Placements : The placement here at NIT Jamshedpur are much better than at many other NITs. Last year, the placement was quite good with the highest pay package of 27 lacs offered by Amazon to 5 students from CSE and ECE. This year, Microsoft will also be visiting the campus for placements. Also, many core and non-core companies including various MNCs and PSUs like Samsung, Oracle, Philips, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Vedanta, etc. visit the campus for placements. The average package here is about 5 lpa with almost 100% placement.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is different for open catagory(OC), and that for other catogory students. New scheme for fee has been implemented from the academic year 2016-17 for the newly joining students. as per the new scheme the fee structure is dependent on the annual income of parents . if the parents income is below 2 lakhs, institute fee paid will be zero, between 2-5lakhs institute fee will be 1/3rd of total institute fee, and above 5 lakhs full institute fee should be paid (70,000rs per semester).

Fees and Financial Aid

The institute offers fellowships to research scholars, a fellowship of Rs. 25000 per month along with a contingency of Rs. 10000 per annum and also 5% HRA.

Campus Life

4

Beside academic activities the Centre lays emphasis on promotion of games and sports of the Institute. The Centre has been sincerely guiding both UG and PG students of the Institute in different areas of games and sports and also organized various sporting events throughout the year, be it Intra NIT or the Inter NIT and Inter University tournaments. Regular practice in every major game is carried out under the guidance and supervision of the Centre/Coaches. Institute teams are picked, trained and exposed to various levels of tournaments. The Institute Annual sports meet is also organized every year for students, employees and their family members, providing some amusement and relief from their grueling work schedule.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel facilities are good not great though. As in our case, during first to third years we stayed in a quad-accommodation room and single accommodation in final year. Each person is provided with one almirah to store his belongings and a cot and table to study. Also food in hostels were good to start with, however, one gets bored with the same did everyday. Wednesday is the day for special dinner when they provide chicken/mutton along with other tasty edibles.

Alumni/Alumna

Our seniors are friendly with us, I have often interacted with them, and I found them really very helpful and co-operative. The faculty-members, too, are very co-operative and helpful.

Exam Structure

The exams were pretty rigorous. We had to work hard in order to secure good marks in the exams both in the written and the lab practicals. The surveillance was pretty tight which led to many disqualifications from the exam halls and in the whole exam in my time.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is quite good. But all the teachers are not good. They don't take the classes and do not teach properly. They are quite short tempered. The lab faculty is really poor. They don't teach us and elaborate properly. So, we could not make many instruments work. The library faculty advisor is not very impressive.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin
