Remarks

This is one of the best institutions of India and I'm proud to be here But there are many things to be improved. Like the infrastructure to be updated and also new hostels should be constructed. Also the management is mostly reluctant towards students issues. We have to protest to get our rights here.

Entrance Preview

I took JNU entrance exam and I scored 60 out of 100 and I opted because this is the best University in India for Economics

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course here is good. Really good. It is more of theoretical than INA by other colleges like the Delhi school of economics. But the courses here are really enjoyable and we find some of the best and finest professors teaching here. I really enjoyed listening to them. In first year we had all 4 compulsory in first two semesters. And in atleast two semesters we could chose all subjects

Internships Opportunities

College doesn't provide an internship but there is a placement cell which provides the information of internships available and we can apply for them. Or sometimes there is an opportunity to work with the professors here in the college.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement cell is good. And economics is the only department having placement cell. They are good and we have many opportunities but not as great compare to other Universities because this is a research oriented University and gives most preference to Higher studies

College Events

3.5

There are very few cultural events or festivals happening but there are many guest lectures, discussions, workshops and other events happening regularly. But there is also a very different kind of atmosphere in JNU which is filled with he students' movements which is famous nation-wide.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee here is very nominal. The concept here is to be inclusive even tot he poorest people. Apart from entrance fee we just have to pay 100-200 per semester for college and 2000-3000 for mess bill. Expect for this there is no other cost which would trouble students. It is a student friendly structure

Fees and Financial Aid

There are few scholarship for the economically weaker sections and I don't think loans are required for people in this University to pay loans. So scholarship are available and I know few people who have taken it.

Campus Life

4

The best part of JNU is there are more women than men here. This is one of the most progressive things in India. Which is why I like JNU. There is huge diversity in terms of different states, different religions, different countries, different languages, different backgrounds, and people from all over country come here. Extra curricular activities are also very good.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostels though old built around 30-40 years ago are really comfortable and also give the whole feel of JNU. JNU hostels are famous for their liberal nature. JNU is one of the safest places in Delhi even at night. I feel that's because of the people and the hostels here. Mess food is better any day than for available in pgs

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of JNU is spread over entire India rather world. This institution has produced some of the best scholars and leaders of the Country. They are very helpful in terms of supporting students or showing solidarity in issues with students

Exam Structure

The exams here are not very hectic. They conduct 2 exams in a semester. And it's equal weight age to both. But the thing here is there is lot of syllabus. Given the top University the professors obviously expect us to read more and learn more. But they are supportive and we can totally enjoy the exams too!

Admission

I filled up application form after notification was released in march and had to pay the fee. I have applied for two courses. Then wrote the entrance exam in may 2016. The list was out in July, to take admission I had to come to Delhi and follow the admission process here which took almost two days.

Faculty

5

Here in JNU we find some of the best and finest professors teaching here. I really enjoyed listening to them. I have always listened to their guest lectures. Not having them teaching class is a really amazing experience! I really love the professors here

Continuous and comprehensive evaluation or CCE is a well-structured formula and anyone in the system can learn from it and get the benefits from it as well. The termwise assessments are the proofs that one can derive inspiration from it.

Delhi University - [DU], Master of Arts [MA] (East Asian Studies)
Reviewed on Jan 17, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course considering my interest in East Asian culture and Languages. The Faculty: Student ratio is 1:40 and most of the professors are Ph.D scholars. The teaching method comprises reading books and learning after it which stipulates the form of an ancient education system like any other mediocre Indian University. "An important factor to consider is that faculty sometimes fell short due to a shortage of subject masters(or should I say language) For example, Chinese faculty is much in number and experience than Korean and Japanese while the latter suffer the incompetency of the number of faculty. Term exams happened to be very fast but it was due to the internal issues that remain consistent in DU and except that there would be tons of Internal Assessments that play a major role in one's SGPA. Exam level - Hard!

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was interested in knowing more about the politics of the country, additionally, it was going to help me out with my UPSC optional. Though the faculty-student ratio has increased now, still professors are easily accessible to discuss. One can approach their chambers, also each student gets an academic advisor allotted. The faculty here is one of the best in the country, even overseas. That is the foremost reason why students want to be here. The teaching method is very impersonal, where Faculty itself has the power to design the syllabus and assess them as they want. The course is not easy, and rigorous and one should engage properly in the readings to write good answers and develop a deep understanding. Centre for political studies (CPS) takes two mid-semester exams and one end-semester exam in a semester.
