IIM Amritsar

I have always wanted to become a Marketing Manager in an FMCG firm, so I pursued an MBA. The faculties of IIM Amritsar are knowledgeable, responsive, and supportive. Most faculty use the case study method to teach in the classroom. Generally, a Professor teaches a class of 60 students. In a year, there are 3 terms, and each term takes three months to complete. The students of IIM Amritsar are highly competitive, so it takes extra effort to score good grades.

The Placement Committee of IIM Amritsar assists the students in securing the Summer Internship by inviting corporates to campus for placements. Many prominent recruiters such as Adani, Arcesium, BenQ, Crisil, Crompton Greaves, Dalmia Bharat, Decathlon, FiveS Digital, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, ICICI Lombard, LatentView Analytics, L&T, Orion, Piramal Group, Porter, RBI, Schindler, Schneider Electric, Tiger Analytics, Tata Capital, Tech Mahindra, Union Bank of India, VIP and many more. Students are offered roles in Sales and Marketing, Finance, Operations, HR, and Analytics. The average stipend is Rs 82,000, and the highest stipend is Rs 2,40,000. During the two months of the internship, students work on a project and present the solutions at the end internship.

IIM Amritsar assists the students in securing their final placements and as well as the summer internship. Corporates come to campus at the start of the 5th trimester to recruit the students. This placement season, more than 120 companies visited the campus for recruitment which, included companies like Adani, Accenture, BenQ, Crisil, Essar, EXL, EY, Genpact, HCL, kore.ai, LatentView Analytics, KPMG, Maruti & Suzuki, Porter, Schindler, Tata Capital, Tech Mahindra, Tiger Analytics, TVS, VIP, Yes Bank, ZS and many more. The average package was 16.51 lakh and 20.57 for the top quartile. 100% of students are placed during the placement season. I want to work in Marketing and Analytics domain after completing my degree.

The total course fees of IIM Amritsar are 16 lakhs for two years which are the tuition and hostel fees. There is also a mess fee which is Rs 25000 for each term. Only one academic scholarship is provided to the top 7 students who perform well in the 1st year, and their tuition fee is waived.

IIM Amritsar conducts 5 business conclaves in an academic year. Aarunya, the cultural, sports, and business fest, is organized by the college. IIM Amritsar currently does not have its own campus, and the transit campus is situated at the Punjab Institute of Technology. The library consists of both offline and online materials to assist the students. Also, the institute ID enables the students to access premium journals and tools. All the classrooms are IT enabled and have all the necessary facilities. The sports infrastructure is good at IIM Amritsar. All the major sports facilities, including both indoor and outdoor are available at hostel premises.

IIM Amritsar provides hostel facilities, and it is located two kilometres away from Amritsar Airport. Students are provided 2BHK flats on twin sharing basis. They provide a bed, mattress, study table, chair, and cupboard. The hostel is enabled with high-speed WiFi, a geyser, and a water purifier per flat. Regular housekeeping services are also provided. The Hostel and Mess Committee decides the menu, which is revised regularly. The mess serves breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The mess is clean and hygienic to ensure health and good quality food is served to the students. The hostel registration is done once students come to the hostel facilities.

The admission process of IIM Amritsar was quite smooth. To be eligible for MBA at IIM Amritsar, one must complete their graduation with at least 50%. For IIM Amritsar particularly, a student should have an overall percentile of 85, clearing all the sectional cutoffs. After the CAT results are declared, IIM Amritsar sends a mail regarding the GDPI round, and after that, we need to fill out the application form on IIM Amritsar's website. An application fee is to pay of Rs 2000 while applying. The interview was scheduled for March 2022, and the final results were declared on June 2022.

The interview process of IIM Amritsar was conducted online in 2022 due covid restrictions. GD was not conducted in the process; a direct Personal Interview round was held. There were two interviewers interviewing the candidates. Basic interview questions were asked, such as; Tell me about yourself; why do you want to pursue MBA after engineering; current affairs questions, and basic economics questions like about inflation and unemployment. I self-prepared for the interview, read articles, and followed the latest news.
