Course Curriculum Overview

A repeated course with highly qualified professors holding PhD degrees and renowned scientists. A great way of teaching, Research projects are given to students in order to prepare them further for PhD level.

Fees and Financial Aid

As a government college, the fees are reasonable. No scholarships or stipends are available as such, but students with certain eligibility criteria and belonging to a certain income group can avail of government scholarships.

Campus Life

The library has approximately 1 lakh books, having newspapers, journals, and books on various subjects. The library is well-managed by librarians and faculty members. Many extracurricular activities that students participate in are singing, dancing.

Admission

The Eligibility criteria for admission in postgraduation in Microbiology is 70%, please check the website as well, the criteria change every year. The application form is available online through the given web portal.

Niper Kolkata: from starting to end

Likes

Laboratories facilities are amazing as it is a premium institute. All the labs contains instrument which are available only in institute of national importance o
Faculties are amazingly qualified as well as friendly for solving your doubts
You get multiple opportunities for the industrial experience as internship. This institute provide amazing placement opportunities with high salaries.

Dislikes

The area of the campus is small leads to chaos. Which will be averted after shifting to new campus
Due to the small campus sitting places are very small
Hostel facilities and rooms are very poor.

Placement Experience:

2nd year students are eligible for the campus placement. Sai, Hetero, mendine, dr. Reddys etc companies visities for the campus placement. Offers ranges from 5-12 lpa. 60% students gets placed, 10% goes for higher studies and others get job off campus in my department. Other departments has 100% placement. My plans are pHd from Niper as it provides vast knowledge and instrumental exposure.

The Techno Experience

Likes

Practical Exposure with hands on training is always good for personal growth
The laboratories were well equipped with state of the art instruments
Entrepreneurship was encouraged and it really helped us with designing future start ups.

Dislikes

Lack of scholarships for the needy is one thing that needed to be worked on.
There was a distinct lack of encouragement to pursue extracurricular activity.
Sometimes it felt like it would have helped if we had a mental health counsellor onboard with the department.

Placement Experience:

Techno India University has a strong campus placement. Several students got jobs during the last semester, and I am one of them. Some others choose to wait for better opportunities. Some joined good startups. The package was nominal as we were all freshers. After getting my degree, I planned to pursue corporate experience and then join a lab for my PhD.

Comprehensive Review of MSc Life Sciences in Presidency University, Kolkata.

Likes

Well equipped laboratories with all necessary instruments and chemicals and whatever that is required. Even Electron microscope are available
Senior and Junior relationship is great, and PhD scholars often guide you in studies and in Life
Canteens, Playground, Books shops are near or inside the Campus with Department and Central Library with access to many books and online resources and WiFi

Dislikes

Politics is on peak since great colleges in india such as JNU are engaged in political activities
Attendance above 75 percent is mandatory to appear for exams
The duration of practical can be of 4-5 hours at a strech sometimes apart from Theory classes

Placement Experience:

Not all courses provides placements. But Placements are often common in departments such as Geology, for other departments, faculties can provide letters of recommendations and absorb as PhD scolars after PG completion and satisfactory performance

My thoughts on our beloved Sidho Kanho Birsha University.

Likes

The most I liked about my university is the infrastructure and availability of facilities for our studies.
Second thing I like are our professors . They help us in every aspect of our educational or personal life .
Third thing I like the most is my batchmates who gives me encouragement for pursuing my studies.

Dislikes

The university is a bit far from the Purulia city . So the connectivity is a problem.
I think if we get some extra hours of the lab facilities, that will be great.
Water purifier are available in some of the floors I think the number should be increased.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement of our university is quite good and it is getting better day by day. Especially our chemistry department is doing great in this field. Last year our dept almost hit 100% placements and the highest package was of 5 lpa. I am planning to peruse my PhD after MSc.

Everything you need to know before taking admission in Lady Brabourne College

I initially applied to Presidency University, Scottish Church College, Loreto College, Bethune. Taking the overall environment and faculty into consideration ( non union college) I opted for this college. Faced a rejection from Presidency and Loreto...but got into the rest two. The admissions are based off of 12th marks strictly. No other exams are accepted. One has to score very high to get into this college. Gen- above 95 Obc- 85 above Sc -75 above The above assumptions are just rough. One might be lucky enough to get into this college with lower marks or be unfortunate to not get into with much higher marks. Let's say a safe 90 above should be scored regardless of category. Lady Brabourne College: Is it worth it?

I got chance in a lot of different colleges under CU, State University, and Kalyani University, but chose this one since this is a reputed one with no political influence. I got rejected from Presidency University since I was not able to make the cut-off there, but LBC was my second choice, so I am kind of okay with it.
