The campus life is very interesting in Hindustan you to the presence of literary and music club

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because I was interested in creating garments, especially in the fashion industry. They are specialised faculty in our college for the course and almost all the faculty are NIFT graduates. There are mentors for every 10 to 15 students in our college and bay reviews the progress of the students. The teaching is both practical and theoretical. Equal importance is given to both practical and theoretical exams. Semester exams were held every 6 months and it was not so difficult to pass but it is difficult to get good grades. For every semester there will be two internal exams which will be held within a gap of 30 days maximum.

Class Size: 29Course Fees: INR 150000 per year

Placement Experience

The students become eligible for campus placements in the 6th semester. The placements we get are purely based on our performance in college. The companies that visit our college for placements are IBM, TCL, etc. The highest sale package as per the company offered is 12L per annum. The percentage of students getting placements is 70- 80%

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure here might be a little confusing. If you are a new joiner and you are joining in January you will have to pay 100000 per year but if you are a little late in May or June you will have to pay 150000 per year. They provide financial assistance in form of scholarships and internships inside the college.

Campus Life

There will be cultural every year and people wait for the annual fest more than anything for the whole year. It is normally conducted during March or April months. The Hindustan library is very helpful to the students of different courses but there is only one row of books dedicated to fashion. The tables help us improve a drawing I provided by the college. Sports extracurricular activities happen every Now and then in our college. There are social clubs which are being run by the students literary club dance club music club etc.

Admission

I took an entrance test for joining the college. You can find the application form on the official website of Hindustan University. the dates, fees everything will be mentioned on the website. There are no such eligibility criteria for joining our course. The admission process is a little confusing for newly joining members and it can improve its progress by making the process a little quicker.

The peaceful nature and surroundings give me an mindful experience and it’s preety clean and fresh
Do the students conducts the events together , which is cool all batches join together and from scratch work on uplifting and enjoying the event making it memorable

The network issues at times are disturbing at time

The course aspects in the 1 st year majorly focuses on developing and understanding how and what is needed to satisfy user needs and wants and ahead while designing or working on products personally I was able to relate and understand and think from user aspect ! Mid semesters consist for 1 hr exam with 5 mins reading time and for end semester depends as in 1 st year it's neutral for all we had 2 hr for theory and other for practical's and then after departments are separated fashion department has more of practical exams and submissions compared to footwear department but it's depends .

Dislikes

College location - outside city and main roads are not accessible
Lack of planning here with events, exams etc
College hours- too lengthy and monotonous

Placement Experience:

Placements in FDDI Chennai are average. But the rising competition in this field is also an important factor to consider here. Placements here are not just design based but also with Visual merchandising, retail, production, styling, leather, home furnishing related jobs as well.

FDDI Chennai offers decent campus placements especially for students in: Footwear Design & Production Fashion Design Many industry leaders in footwear, fashion, and retail visit the campus. Companies like Bata, Puma, Reliance Retail, Adidas, Clarks, etc., have recruited in the past. Internships are also provided,which often convert into job offers. Average packages are modest but growing, depending on the student's skills and specialization. Is VIT a good Place to learn Bachelor of Design (Industrial design)?

First of all the infrastructure at VIT tends to be of next level, which provides us with almost covers all the necessities for the students in terms of academics and sports. It has separate blocks for different academic courses and plenty of labs
The campus is huge covering acres of lush green and clean areas which helps us feel relaxed. The campus provides with plenty of gyms , swimming pools, number of sports ground, indoor stadiums, (basketball, tennis, volleyball) courts etc...
The campus is very safe with securities around almost everywhere at such a huge campus. They have done a good job with the shuttle buses, so that we can travel throughout the campus at just 15 rupees.

Dislikes

The so known "Red Tag Annas" who are part of the security team might become a headache for students especially when girls and boys interact with each others. They tend to be too strict and acts weird when boys and girls stand together stating "PDA"
The curfew timings is very hectic for students especially for female students who have a difficult time coming outside. It kind of destroys the freedom to students to get exposure from the outside world , I believe that it is a part of learning.
The facilities outside the college isn't as good as inside since it lacks in activities that we can engage while we are outside. If this is also the made better then the college would best in class for students from outside India too.

Placement Experience:

Since VIT is known for their campus placements , there is no shortage in placements as of now. This year almost all the students who sat for placemennts who had 8 or above CGPA did well with their placements.The topper is also known to get a placemnt of 50 lpa, but he average remains to be 7lpa. Moreover if you have a good cgpa you will get a good internship by third year.Everything depends on the CGAPA that you maintain through your course.70% of students were placed. Iam most probably going to sit for placements if not I hope i will be trained enough to get placements on my own.TCS is known to be giving the most number of placements folllowed by some other industrial ccompanies and startups.

Remarks:

The college is a top-ranked college in terms of architecture. The infrastructure of the college is at par with the standards which should be there in an architecture college. I have many fond memories of the college. The standard of teaching and placements are pretty good.

Remarks:

HONEST TRUTH ABOUT COLLEGES

I did my JEE mains preparation for 2 months and got 87.8 percentile but the cutoff for the year 2022 was 88 percentile for general category. I still had option to join various NITs for cse and other courses, but I have made my mind to study only aeronautical engineering. So I did some research and came to know about this college. I am saying this again. This college is the best for this course apart from IITs. But the faculties may not be what you expected. There are entrance exams but I personally think it's a scam. Vibrant Cmapus life at HITS: Academics, Oppurtunities and Social Engagement

I had applied to SRM, VIT, KCG and SNU. I chose this college as it has a relaxed campus culture compared to other colleges, they also have international exposure which helps us migrate to other foreign universities for a semester exchange program. I was selected in SRM and VIT-AP but was rejected from SNU during the interview session and seat limitation, I would have gotten rejected as I wasnt confident in the interview session. The admission process at HITS is simple, you have to register for the HITSEEE exam from their website and its an exam that you can write from your house, the basic eligibilty is 10+2 with atleast 50 percent in maths, physics and chemistry, they also accept TNEA exam students and give direct admission to the NRI students. The cuttoff depends on the course and category and might vary based on reservations as well. The admission experience was pretty straightforward, post the confirmation mail about the rank after writing the HITSEEE exam, there will be a counselling session where we could choose our course and department based on our rank. There is also a management quota for students who wouldnt have performed well in the entrance exam and they are charged more fees than the others....Read More

Blissful experience in HITS

My father is in government job, he got a transfer in Tamil Nadu. So, me and my family was shifting there after my 12th. One day I was searching for colleges and found HITS in the list of top 10 deemed university engineering college in Chennai with very good infrastructure, faculties, laboratory, transport and placement. Application form was available on the official website of the college. After the registration I filled the form costing around Rs.900. Admission to this course was on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam HITSEE conducted by the college in which I scored average marks. In 12th, I scored 72%.
