Course Curriculum Overview

3

What the Curriculum Offers (Strengths) These are things that FDDI Chennai is clearly doing well, based on their website and student reports: Industry-Oriented Training & Practical Exposure The curriculum includes workshops, industrial training, factory/factory-showroom visits. There’s also exposure to CAD/CAM, footwear production, garment construction, etc. Good Infrastructure & Resources The campus has modern labs, design studios, multimedia, resource centres, and testing labs. Hostel, amenities etc. are also reasonably provided. Relevant & Diverse Specialisations They offer B.Des in Fashion Design, Footwear Design & Production, product design, etc. M.Des too. So it isn't narrowly focused — there's breadth. Placement & Industry Linkages They claim a high placement percentage. Curricula are periodically updated with industry input.Balance of Creative + Technical

Placement Experience

Companies like Bata, Puma, Reliance Retail, Adidas, Clarks, etc., have recruited in the past. Internships are also provided, which often convert into job offers. Average packages are modest but growing, depending on the student's skills and specialization. Admission

Why I Chose FDDI Chennai I chose FDDI Chennai because it offers a specialized curriculum in Fashion Design / Footwear Design / Leather Goods, with strong industry linkages, good infrastructure, and a practical-oriented approach. Its backing by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry gives it credibility, and the placement support is also a strong factor. Why I Couldn't Make It to Other Colleges NIFT – Very high competition. I appeared for the entrance but my rank wasn’t sufficient for the center/course I wanted. Other Private Colleges – I was selected, but the fee was too high and ROI didn’t justify the cost. FDDI Admission Process 1.Entrance Exam (AIST) FDDI All India Selection Test (AIST) is a written exam covering GK, aptitude, design awareness, and English. 2. Application Form Apply online through the FDDI website. Choice of campus and program is selected during this step. 3. Result & Counseling Based on AIST score and seat availability, students are called for counseling and seat allotment.

Faculty

3

Faculties are very friendly and faculties teaching methods are so good . Faculties help students about the curriculum and personal issues.two time exam conducted.one is midterm and another one is endterm exam or semester exam.exam is written and practicals.exam conducted by the faculties.

Interview Experience

4

No, FDDI Chennai generally does not conduct group discussions or interviews for admission. The selection is primarily based on the All India Selection Test (AIST) conducted by FDDI. Admission is given based on the AIST rank/merit, followed by counseling and seat allocation.

Night Life

4

Nightlife around FDDI Chennai is relatively quiet and limited, as the campus is located on the outskirts, near Irungattukottai (SIPCOT area), which is more industrial and residential. On-Campus: Campus life winds down early; most students stay in hostels. Students often spend evenings hanging out in common areas, watching movies, or working on assignments. Occasional late-night events or DJ nights are organized during college fests. Off-Campus: For more vibrant nightlife, students usually travel to Chennai city (around 1–1.5 hours away), where there are: Malls and multiplexes Restaurants and cafés Lounges and clubs in areas like T. Nagar, Nungambakkam, or Besant Nagar

Placement Experience:

Thr placements for bdes is not as good as btech ofcourse, which is why a lot of them prefer to apply for it individually as I said, but a good training is given for sitting on placements on our 3rd and 4th year of the course. The minimum cgpa for sitting for placements is 8.5 and as of what I know 9 lakh is the estimated package. I am planning to pursue masters after my degree and in between If I want a break I thought of gaining some work experience by working for an year so. I thought of applying for companies myself instead of sitting for the placements from university itself.

Placement Experience:

Since VIT is known for their campus placements , there is no shortage in placements as of now. This year almost all the students who sat for placemennts who had 8 or above CGPA did well with their placements. The topper is also known to get a placemnt of 50 lpa, but he average remains to be 7lpa. Moreover if you have a good cgpa you will get a good internship by third year.Everything depends on the CGAPA that you maintain through your course.70% of students were placed. Iam most probably going to sit for placements if not I hope i will be trained enough to get placements on my own.TCS is known to be giving the most number of placements folllowed by some other industrial ccompanies and startups.

My 4 years at NIFT was utterly an experience! I cant describe it probably in a word but I can say that it has built me as a person, it has thought me how to deal with different people from a worker or an artisan to at CEO or MD of an organisation, it has thought me to be confident at the same time humble. How to work under immense pressure and time constrains. All in all NIFT has acquiped me to take on this world and make my mark with the skills and practices that I learnt in these 4 years.
