Remarks

The college is a top-ranked college in terms of architecture. The infrastructure of the college is at par with the standards which should be there in an architecture college. I have many fond memories of the college. The standard of teaching and placements are pretty good.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was a mixed bag of theoretical learning and overall enhancement of the creative aspects of a person. The students are offered elective subjects out of topics like Theater, Poetry, Critical Thinking, etc. This encourages a healthy exchange of ideas and interactions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The first-year fee for the UG program is a little shy of 5 lacs Rs which justifies that it is one of the top education service providers in the architectural domain.

Campus Life

Campus life was pretty awesome, literally awesome. One reason being the infrastructure and other being the learning environment. Almost all of my batch-mates were passionately motivated towards the design industry.

Alumni/Alumna

Conduct workshops, industry visits, seminars, provide projects carried out by students and faculty. Active participation is expected from each student in Film Club, Reading club, Weekend lectures and many cultural activities that take place regularly on the campus.

Admission

The admission is on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the DJ Academy. The entrance exam was the pretty interesting one testing your skills like sketching and coloring etc. I was called for a personal interview after I cleared the entrance exam.

Our college has many qualified and experienced faculty members from the National Institute of Design (NID) and practicing Design Professionals as visiting faculty. The overall standard of teaching is quite good.

An overview on my life as an Fddi - student who is still yet to graduate

Likes

The peaceful nature and surroundings give me an mindful experience and it’s preety clean and fresh
Do the students conducts the events together , which is cool all batches join together and from scratch work on uplifting and enjoying the event making it memorable

Dislikes

The network issues at times are disturbing at time

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course aspects in the 1 st year majorly focuses on developing and understanding how and what is needed to satisfy user needs and wants and ahead while designing or working on products personally I was able to relate and understand and think from user aspect ! Mid semesters consist for 1 hr exam with 5 mins reading time and for end semester depends as in 1 st year it's neutral for all we had 2 hr for theory and other for practical's and then after departments are separated fashion department has more of practical exams and submissions compared to footwear department but it's depends .

Creative freedom - freedom to pursue design as something personal.

Dislikes

College location - outside city and main roads are not accessible
Lack of planning here with events, exams etc
College hours- too lengthy and monotonous

Placement Experience:

Placements in FDDI Chennai are average. But the rising competition in this field is also an important factor to consider here. Placements here are not just design based but also with Visual merchandising, retail, production, styling, leather, home furnishing related jobs as well.

Improve more bus Transfotation and the learning facilities also good and practical session is good

Placement Experience:

FDDI Chennai offers decent campus placements especially for students in: Footwear Design & Production Fashion Design Many industry leaders in footwear, fashion, and retail visit the campus. Companies like Bata, Puma, Reliance Retail, Adidas, Clarks, etc., have recruited in the past. Internships are also provided,which often convert into job offers. Average packages are modest but growing, depending on the student's skills and specialization. If No Campus Placement: If a student doesn’t get placed through campus recruitment, employability remains high due to: Industry-Relevant Skills (CAD, pattern making, material knowledge) Strong Portfolio Development Entrepreneurship Opportunities Freelancing in fashion, styling, or product design Further studies (Master’s programs in design, management, etc.) Future Plans May Include: Starting your own brand or label Working in design studios or export houses Applying for government or private sector roles Studying abroad or pursuing a specialized diploma/PG course

Is VIT a good Place to learn Bachelor of Design (Industrial design)?

First of all the infrastructure at VIT tends to be of next level, which provides us with almost covers all the necessities for the students in terms of academics and sports. It has separate blocks for different academic courses and plenty of labs
The campus is huge covering acres of lush green and clean areas which helps us feel relaxed. The campus provides with plenty of gyms , swimming pools, number of sports ground, indoor stadiums, (basketball, tennis, volleyball) courts etc...
The campus is very safe with securities around almost everywhere at such a huge campus. They have done a good job with the shuttle buses, so that we can travel throughout the campus at just 15 rupees.

Dislikes

The so known "Red Tag Annas" who are part of the security team might become a headache for students especially when girls and boys interact with each others. They tend to be too strict and acts weird when boys and girls stand together stating "PDA"
The curfew timings is very hectic for students especially for female students who have a difficult time coming outside. It kind of destroys the freedom to students to get exposure from the outside world , I believe that it is a part of learning.
The facilities outside the college isn't as good as inside since it lacks in activities that we can engage while we are outside. If this is also the made better then the college would best in class for students from outside India too.

Placement Experience:

Since VIT is known for their campus placements , there is no shortage in placements as of now. This year almost all the students who sat for placemennts who had 8 or above CGPA did well with their placements.The topper is also known to get a placemnt of 50 lpa, but he average remains to be 7lpa. Moreover if you have a good cgpa you will get a good internship by third year.Everything depends on the CGAPA that you maintain through your course.70% of students were placed. Iam most probably going to sit for placements if not I hope i will be trained enough to get placements on my own.TCS is known to be giving the most number of placements folllowed by some other industrial ccompanies and startups.

The faculty are highly qualified as they are chosen based on their working experience.
The campus life is very interesting in Hindustan you to the presence of literary and music club
The fees here is quite reasonable and less when compared to other colleges.

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for campus placements in the 6th semester. The placements we get are purely based on our performance in college. The companies that visit our college for placements are IBM, TCL, etc. The highest sale package as per the company offered is 12L per annum. The percentage of students getting placements is 70- 80%

Remarks:

It had a huge scope of improvement then and i am sure its progressing on a good scale since then. Being a national institute and holding a great reputation there are a lot of areas to improvise and rework on.
