Course Curriculum Overview
According to my JEE Advanced Rank and the counselling, I was allotted the Textile and Fibre engineering department of IIT Delhi. I pursue this course because I was too much influenced by the start-up and entrepreneurship environment of IIT Delhi and I want to go further in this. Besides this, I also heard too much about the research in our department and their achievements. Faculty: student ratio of IIT Delhi is much better than the rest of the colleges in India but still IT is low compared to the world numbers. It is about 1:13. The Faculty members of the textile and fibre engineering department have completed their research in many foreign universities and give they're contributed in these fields. They give in-depth knowledge of the subjects and also help in lab work. As IIT Delhi is one the most reputed education institute in India it is too much difficult for students to deal with academics along with other club-related things.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are offered by many companies. Consulting companies like McKinsey company provide stipends for about 80,000 to 1,10,000. Few companies give SDE(software development engineer) like google gives stipends and quant companies like Da Vinci
Placement Experience
Placements at my College are very good compared to other colleges in India. Talking about myself, I choose this college after getting familiar with the placements statistics and start-up culture. The highest packages were given by Tech based and quint-based companies which are around 1 crore and the average package is about 40 lakhs. Moreover, about 90% of the students at IIT Delhi get placed every year. My plan after getting my degree is to work on start-ups. For this thing, IIT Delhi comes with a plan that if someone's start-up fails, then they will get a chance to sit on the placements even after graduating.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee of IITs college is too much high compared to the average income of an Indian. Along with academics and tuition fees, they also charge heavy hostel and mess fees. And as the semester changes there is a significant hike in the mess fees. Because it is one of the most reputed and top-tier government colleges in India it is easy for a low-income family to avail of these benefits. Some of the scholarships are Mithal scholarships, donor scholarships, and Nand Lal Memorial scholarships. These scholarships not only provide tuition fee and hostel fees but also give monthly money to manage the personal expense of any students
Campus Life
The annual fest of IIT Delhi is Rendezvous and it is hosted in the month of March. It is India's largest and Asia's second-largest cultural fest. Along with this IIT Delhi also hosts its tech fest named Tryst which is also held in the month of March. IIT Delhi has a Central Library which contains all the academic and literature books. Along with these books, it also contains many journals and research papers. These study materials get updated and revised time-to-time whose updates were given in Mails.IIT Delhi library is one of the few libraries which is open for a long full day and night. Along with the Central Library of IIT Delhi, hostels also have their own library. The lecture hall complex of IIT Delhi has been recently made. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned and they have enough classrooms for all the students along with modern labs and a computer department. As talked about LHC, Our sports complex is also newly made and named Mitthal sports complex.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room which is allotted to first-year students is triple sharing. It contains a bed a table and a wardrobe for each student. The bathrooms and corridors are well maintained and cleaned daily and all the other maintenance-related things are done on time. The mess provides us the Healthy and hygienic food along with different varieties it contains food from all the states of India whether it is north or south Indian. The registration process of the hostel was completed along with the registration of the college. Compared to the prices outside the campus, our hostel is much more affordable. As we have too many classes it will be much better for a day scholar to accommodate a hostel just outside the campus.
Admission
Admission was made through JoSAA(Joint Seat allocation authority) counselling and was about one and a half months long. It's suitable for students that all the processes were online and enough time was given for everyone to proceed further and arrange all the documents. All the required dates and forms including fee structures were available online along with the dates. It starts with a basic application where one has to provide all the personal details. Then you will be given various options of colleges along with branches. One will choose these options according to their ranks and category. Then after many rounds of counselling, you will be allotted a college according to the respective cut-off. One thing which I found that needs to be improved in this JoSAA counselling process and admission process of my college is that it is too much lengthy and complicated. Additionally, they also demand certain documents which I can't find personally necessary.
