Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is very holistic with all updated books, study materials, cases and case readings. I choose Human Resource Management as there are fewer students in that course and the curriculum is relatively easier than the PGDM course. Faculties teach not from the book but from the cases, they provide with live examples from different companies and from their own personal experience.
Internships Opportunities
I am placed in ABG (Aditya Birla Group) in their ABGLP program. It's a leadership program offered by the company. The stipend I'll be getting is 1,50,000 per month along with free accommodation and to & fro flight tickets. I am yet to go on my internship and I have not received my JD/project yet so cannot comment on anything. But all the seniors are always saying good things about the company and their work culture.
Placement Experience
We have our summer internship process in September and once you are placed, you'll be required to do your internship in April-May-June of the next year. The avg SIP this year was 2,82,000 for 2 months which is basically 1,40,000 per month. The highest stipend stood at 2,00,000 per month and the lowest at 75,000 per month. All the students get placed. So if you are worried that you are not good enough, no need to worry, you'll also be placed at a very good stipend.
Fees and Financial Aid
The top 5 students get scholarships and there is a chance to avail of scholarships if your family income is less than 8 lakhs per annum. The fee for two years is 23,47,600 and if you want to go on a student exchange, you'll have to add extra 4-5 lakhs on this fee as your expenditure. A student loan should cover the same. I am still in my first year and I will be interning with ABG in the ABGLP program at a stipend of 1,50,000 per month.
Campus Life
Social Life- It is crazy. The friends, bond, and connections one make are parallel to none. Party culture and peer learning are there. The library is really good with almost all journals required for projects, assignments and case studies available. We participate in various sports tournaments across different B-Schools throughout the year and there is a section war plus senior vs juniors in sports. We have all kinds of sports facilities available which one plays on a day-to-day basis. There are various committees, clubs, and SIGs which one can be a part of once you are on campus
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room is good. Spacious as in there is space for walking too after 2 beds, 2 wardrobes, 2 tables, 2 chairs. There are ACs in all the rooms so no need to worry about the hot summers that await you in Gurgaon. Once you take admission, hostels are given to you by the college itself, with no extra process for the same.
Admission
You need to appear in the CAT exam. Any percentile over 90%ile with a sectional of 70 70 70 cleared will fetch you a call from MDI Gurgaon. However, to convert core, 96+ is a safe score for non-engg and 98.5+ for GEM. After you get a shortlist, you'll have to appear and fill out a form which MDI-G will send and you can edit your details there. Further, you'll get a PI date. Results will be announced sometime in May.
Interview Experience
There was no GD, only PI. One should cover GK for which you can refer to StudyIQ or Drishti IAS Be thorough with your undergrad subjects, especially the basics. Also, be ready with your favourite subjects and questions about them. Cover basic finance, economics and marketing terms. Hygiene HR questions are a must.
