Course Curriculum Overview
My course of study is Textile Technology, which I was forced to take because that was the only option at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, which was my dream institute, and in which my sister had also studied. The curriculum is pretty obsolete in general, and the professors are pretty old-style. Still, life other than that is pretty worth it to have opted for this choice
Internships Opportunities
There are plenty of companies coming to offer internships to the students, very similar to the placement season. Internships are also coordinated by the Office For Career Services. Students entering their third year or fourth year for a dual degree sit for these processes. Roles like SDE, Quant, consult and analytics are available with stipends ranging from 30000 to even 12L for Quant roles. Often, pre-placement offers are given
Placement Experience
Placements are typically good in our college, and students become eligible for on-campus placements from their 7th semester. Around a Hundred companies usually come in for on-campus placements each year and the highest packages offered are around a crore rupees. And the institute boasts nearly a hundred per cent placement. My plans are to higher studies in Vehicle Dynamics and control engineering, probably abroad.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my opinion, the tuition fee is decent for a general-category male student, although there are several financial assistance programs that keep popping up in various departments of the curriculum. The jobs available through campus placement are also pretty good in my opinion and many people get pre-placement offers in their internships
Campus Life
The annual fest, here at IIT Delhi is called Rendezvous, which is considered to be one of the biggest Cultural fests in India. The tech fest is called Tryst, which is north India's largest. The library here is good but my expectations were a little bit higher still. The classroom infrastructure is pretty good and comfortable. The culture of sports is also decent here in Delhi and there is a pretty dominant 'Club' culture with very active participation from students
Hostel Facilities
The hostel in which I stay is pretty decent, a little better than others here, so I am satisfied. The messing staff also does a good job in general, and it's nothing like the ones typically talked about. The Hostel fee is 60000 per year which, in my opinion, is pretty reasonable too
Admission
The college application process typically involves several steps, including taking an entrance exam (JEE mains and Advanced in my case). After taking the exam, the Joint Entrance Exam committee releases a score, and a rank list based on which we had to apply to different departments of various colleges under the system
