Course Curriculum Overview
The first year course curriculum is the same for all the branches except for the departmental "Introduction to Engineering" class, which is specific for all engineering departments The curriculum is versatile and includes almost all topis that an ideal college should include in the first year curriculum. The professors are very well at teaching their respective subjects if one pays attention in class. The faculty-student ratio is around 1:11 for the textile department. All the professors are PHD holders and teach in their own creative ways. Some professors teach through slides and others teach through writing on the system which is then projected on a large screen for the class to see. The term exams were would early due to the late starting of the batch for to the coronavirus. They were easy enough to pass if one just pays attention in class.
Internships Opportunities
The major companies that come for placements are Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Google, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Mckinsey, Jaguar, Zomato, Mercedes, BCG, Bain, and BlinkIt. Companies like Texas instruments, info edge also come to the campus every year. Companies like Infosys and Wipro also come to campus placements every year.
Placement Experience
The campus placements are absolutely fantastic. The placements are held in two sessions, one being in the month of December and the other in February. Even during the recession time, the students were placed with really great packages and did not face any difficulty in getting placed. More than 99% of the students get placed every year. Personally, I am planning to pursue an MBA after my B.Tech
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee was increased recently due to various reasons and new infrastructure being developed on the campus. There are new buildings being conducted and also a new laboratory for the textile department is under construction too. The course fee is 238000 per year due to the same.
Campus Life
The social life at IIT Delhi is quite engaging and the peers are welcoming in any field which one seeks to pursue during their time at IIT. The seniors are also welcome and enthusiastic to teach the freshers the basics of all the variety of opportunities available at the campus. The annual cultural fest of IIT Delhi is "Rendezvous" and the tech fest is "Tryst". All the code books are available in the library but are in limited amounts. One has to reach early in the library to issue the books for the semester. One does not really need books to study, the lecture notes are all one needs to get good grades. The classrooms are well equipped with lots of charging ports available for the laptops and have a big projector through which the professor teaches. All sports are played within the campus, including squash and hockey which are rare in many other colleges. All the clubs here are ultimately run by the students and seek minor help from the authorities whenever needed
Hostel Facilities
The rooms in the first year are 2 seaters as well as 3 seaters depending on the hostel allotted. The rooms consist of a table, a chair, and a bed (the bedding needs to be brought). There is an almirah for keeping the clothes and a separate rack for all the other stuff the students need daily. The meals of the mess are average, as one would expect in an engineering college. The registration process for the hostel was through a website called "scorner" whose I'd and password are provided after the admission is confirmed through the Josaa process. The hotels are quite affordable, the price is 60,000 per year. The IIT lies in the Hauz Khas region and has some PGs in the locality, but I would struggle to recommend against them as opting for the hostels is a much better option. THE HOSTELS ARE TOTALLY ANTI-RAGGING.
Admission
The admission process was through the Josaa counselling and I had to take JEE Mains, qualify for the exam and then appear for the JEE Advanced exam. The application form can be found on the official Josaa website for the JEE Mains and the official JEE Advances website for the JEE Advanced exam. The application fee for me was Rs.650 for the Mains exam and Rs.2900. The Josaa website did not provide the admit card on time and also did not provide me with the first priority of the city I chose for the exam. This caused me much inconvenience to appear for the exam
Other Applied Colleges
Manipal Institute of Technology - [MIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
IIT DELHI was a better choice, being a top tier IIT
