Remarks

The admission process for Masters's is purely based on marks. A graduate in Zoology with a pass percentage of 50% is eligible for the MSc course. The higher the percentage, the more the possibility to get a seat in the college. Every detail regarding the application form, application fees, and application dates is updated on the website of the college. You can also find the course fee of each stream from a google search. Apart from merit seats, there are reserved seats for General, OBC, OEC, etc. The overall admission process is well organized and satisfactory.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

As the college is offering Msc. Zoology with a specialization in Medical Microbiology, the students get an opportunity to specialize in the field of Microbiology. The class strength is around 30-35 with a ratio of 1:8 for faculty: student. Faculty members are extremely qualified with Ph.D., MPhil, or Masters in the field of Biology. They are highly supportive of both in-class activities as well as extracurricular events. Term or Semester exams are conducted on fixed dates. Though the syllabus is vast, students who follow the class lectures will find it not so difficult to pass the exams.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internship opportunities are given by both public and private firms in and outside Kerala. Students will get a chance to train themselves in their preferred field with a fair monthly stipend. The works or projects can be both internal as well as external or fieldwork. Certificates of project completion are also given by some companies.

Placement Experience

3

Students with eligible qualifications are given opportunities to attend various job fairs and campus placements conducted in the college. The opportunity is usually given to students in their final year or semester. Various national as well as international companies offer interesting jobs with exciting salaries. Salaries can range from 10000- lakhs based on the posts offered. If students are looking for higher studies after post-graduation, they can opt for Ph.D., MPhil, BEd, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

A course fee of approximately 25000/- is charged for one year or semester. This includes the tuition or lecture fees, lab fees, and miscellaneous expenses. Selected, deserving students are provided with Post Metric Scholarship and grants from the Government. There are also Single Girl Child Scholarships, OBC Grants, OEC Grants, E-grants, etc. Qualified students are also given opportunities for research and part-time jobs.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus of St. Albert's College is very well maintained with clean surroundings. Not much noisy, yet vibrant with smart pupils. Each department of the college conducts seminars, webinars, and cultural fests including the Annual celebrations, Onam celebration, and Christmas celebration. National-level talks and paper presentations are also organized to make the students more knowledgeable. Apart from libraries for each department, there are labs as well as projector facilities for making studies easy. Sports Day is also celebrated with athletic competitions. Students as well as faculties are active in NSS, NCC, Environment Club, Arts Club, Sports Club, Counselling, etc.

Remarks:

JEE Rank was the main factor. The facilities like hostel, labs, etc mentioned in the IIT Palakkad website. During the allotment process, one senior girl student of my branch contacted me and cleared all my doubts whether it was small or big, placement details, etc. After the rankings were released, based on the previous years cut-off ranks, I was able to get a fair idea about the colleges I would be able to join among all the IITs, NITs, IIITs. Based on JEE Mains rankings, NIT or IIITs can be chosen. Based on JEE Advance ranking, IIT can be chosen. Also, 2 mock allotment will take place which gives a fair idea of which allotment we will get. These mock allotment will be based on our preferences. We can change them after the mock. Then the actual allotment will start. Once we finalise our preferences and lock them, there will be 7 rounds of allocation. 3 options will be given in each round-Float, Freeze,Slide (details will be clearly mentioned in the website). Once you are allocated a seat in any round, document verification will take place (seat acceptance fee must be paid at this stage).
