Remarks

The college management is okay. Because of the reputed name various eminent architects and firms come to the college occasionally which is not very common for all the colleges

Entrance Preview

NATA Entrance Exam I scored 120 I opted for the college because of the reputation and after talking to a few students from the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The college curriculum aids an overall development. It includes site visits, reports, presentations, portfolio and model making, etc. The second year incorporates interior design as a subject and third year includes landscape design and urban planning and professional practice in fifth year. Thus the curriculum adds direct value to the on site profession. The college follows the Mumbai University curriculum. It is subject to change as the college attains autonomy.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college provides campus placements.Stipend ranges from rupees 5,000-20,000 Various firms are contacted and given an invitation to the the placement day. Majority of the firms send their employees for the first interview. The selected students are called to the respective offices for the final interview

Placement Experience

3.5

A list of firms is prepared along with their contact details. Firms from not only Mumbai but Pune, Bangalore, etc come to the campus. The list is given to the students and vice versa. Students prepare a portfolio of their CV and their works til date. 80% of the students get through the interview round.

College Events

4.5

The following events are celebrated in the college Marathi Vangmay: a person from the film industry or any reputed Marathi poet, singer, officer, social worker, etc is invited as a guest and an intra college function is held to celebrate the state language. Shilpasagar Magazine launch: Shilpasagar is the college magazine which is among the top awarded college magazines. Many famous architects and writers are invited to this event. Fee Structure And Facilities

The college is a government aided college, hence the fee structure is feasible. It is rupees 17,000 for open category and about 9,000 for students belonging to certain castes. These expenses are solely college fees. Other events such as monsoon trip have to be paid by the students willing to go, which is about 300 rupees and also for the college magazine and college t shirt.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers substantial reduction in fees for students of certain castes. Also there is a scholarship form to be filled by the students belonging to castes which avails them of ordering one book they need whose expenses are bored fully by the government.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus is amazing as it is blessed with a huge area, greenery, neighboring art colleges and their influence and in one of the best locations Mumbai can offer. There is a printing center (daksha) close by which provides to be very useful. Also the nearby crawford market and various markets and shops help by providing required materials at discounted rates. The gender ratio is about 4:7 boys to girls.Students from various parts of Maharashtra and India seek admission to the college providing a healthy economic and regional diversity.Lots of debates and discussions on current news are held in the Humanities lectures as the subject demands. extracurricular are initiated depending on students and respective faculty members.

Hostel Facilities

3

Majority of the students opt for hostel facility. Students can also opt for PG as per their economic background. The hostel rooms are government facilitated. The rooms are shared by two students. The hostel fees include one time snacks (around 4:00 PM ) and dinner.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior help a great deal when required, especially during the thesis. There exists a chain of seniors belonging to the same area thus providing much help. They also teach the required softwares.

Exam Structure

The college follows a semester pattern as per the university norms. Each year consists of two semesters thus two exams per year. The various things taught throughout the semester are asked in the exams thus the exams aren't very hectic. The written exam is not held for all the subjects but only for three to four subjects.

Admission

every student was provided with a unique ID and password. students had to submit a set of documents including the ID, NATA score, an online form of preferences, etc to the nearest architecture college and get a kit after paying rupees 500. after a few days the the first list of assigned colleges was out and students had to go to their respective colleges and take admission along with the required set of documents. or wait for the second round. three rounds plus a management quota were conducted in total.

Faculty

3.5

The permanent faculty is helpful in times of need. But majority lack professional knowledge as they have been in the filed of teaching since long. The college has visiting faculties for various subjects who are reputed architects and have a good amount of professional experience.

The frequency of exam is twice a semester and good enough. Guest lectures are good and helpful for the future preparation. There must be a change in teaching styles of the faculty and more site based experiments through the course for better understanding than only in class studies , the beauty of historical buldings made me wonder about this course

Placement Experience:

For architecure departments, usually there are no placements, but since this Institute is autonomous, they have startes conducting placements drive. Last year 10/12 students were placed in good firms all over banglore, pune, kolhapur. I plan on applying to different firms all over Maharashtra and would also hope to get placement via college since the packages that are offered are good. Placement percentage is anywhere between 12-15%. The highest package offered was around 5,40,000, average package for a architecture student would be-around 3lakhs.

Placement Experience:

There is no campus placement for architecture students. After completion of the degree, one can apply for jobs or opt for masters. Architects get an average starting salary of 20-25 thousand. The course is pretty expensive including college fees and printing prices. One can also open a private firm and earn enough money. There are very few open students getting placed. My plans after getting a degree are to apply for masters. For a teaching job, one must complete masters.
