Course Curriculum Overview
The college curriculum aids an overall development. It includes site visits, reports, presentations, portfolio and model making, etc. The second year incorporates interior design as a subject and third year includes landscape design and urban planning and professional practice in fifth year. Thus the curriculum adds direct value to the on site profession.The college follows the Mumbai University curriculum. It is subject to change as the college attains autonomy.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the college provides campus placements.Stipend ranges from rupees 5,000-20,000 Various firms are contacted and given an invitation to the the placement day. Majority of the firms send their employees for the first interview. The selected students are called to the respective offices for the final interview
Placement Experience
A list of firms is prepared along with their contact details. Firms from not only Mumbai but Pune, Bangalore,etc come to the campus.The list is given to the students and vice versa. Students prepare a portfolio of their CV and their works til date. 80% of the students get through the interview round.
College Events
The following events are celebrated in the college Marathi Vangmay: a person from the film industry or any reputed Marathi poet, singer, officer, social worker,etc is invited as a guest and an intra college function is held to celebrate the state language. Shilpasagar Magazine launch: Shilpasagar is the college magazine which is among the top awarded college magazines. Many famous architects and writers are invited to this event. Sports week: various sports competition, group and individual are held after college hours Pre cultural days: a week before the cultural festival a week of various days such as twin day, traditional day, Halloween,etc is celebrated after college hours.Cultural festival: three day long Festival containing dance competitions, singing competitions, seminars, exhibitions, installations and games such as treasure hunt, sports finals, quiz, etc and Prom is celebrated before Christmas vacations
Fee Structure And Facilities
The college is a government aided college, hence the fee structure is feasible. It is rupees 17,000 for open category and about 9,000 for students belonging to certain castes. These expenses are solely college fees. Other events such as monsoon trip have to be paid by the students willing to go, which is about 300 rupees and also for the college magazine and college t shirt.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers substantial reduction in fees for students of certain castes. Also there is a scholarship form to be filled by the students belonging to castes which avails them of ordering one book they need whose expenses are bored fully by the government.
Campus Life
The campus is amazing as it is blessed with a huge area, greenery, neighboring art colleges and their influence and in one of the best locations Mumbai can offer. There is a printing center (daksha) close by which provides to be very useful. Also the nearby crawford market and various markets and shops help by providing required materials at discounted rates.The gender ratio is about 4:7 boys to girls.Students from various parts of Maharashtra and India seek admission to the college providing a healthy economic and regional diversity.Lots of debates and discussions on current news are held in the Humanities lectures as the subject demands. extracurricular are initiated depending on students and respective faculty members.
Hostel Facilities
Majority of the students opt for hostel facility. Students can also opt for PG as per their economic background. The hostel rooms are government facilitated. The rooms are shared by two students. The hostel fees include one time snacks (around 4:00 PM ) and dinner.
Alumni/Alumna
Senior help a great deal when required, especially during the thesis. There exists a chain of seniors belonging to the same area thus providing much help. They also teach the required softwares.
Exam Structure
The college follows a semester pattern as per the university norms. Each year consists of two semesters thus two exams per year. The various things taught throughout the semester are asked in the exams thus the exams aren't very hectic. The written exam is not held for all the subjects but only for three to four subjects.
Admission
every student was provided with a unique ID and password. students had to submit a set of documents including the ID, NATA score, an online form of preferences,etc to the nearest architecture college and get a kit after paying rupees 500. after a few days the the first list of assigned colleges was out and students had to go to their respective colleges and take admission along with the required set of documents. or wait for the second round. three rounds plus a management quota were conducted in total.
Faculty
The permanent faculty is helpful in times of need. But majority lack professional knowledge as they have been in the filed of teaching since long. The college has visiting faculties for various subjects who are reputed architects and have a good amount of professional experience.
