Course Curriculum Overview

5

The frequency of exam is twice a semester and good enough. Guest lectures are good and helpful for the future preparation. There must be a change in teaching styles of the faculty and more site based experiments through the course for better understanding than only in class studies , the beauty of historical buldings made me wonder about this course

Fees and Financial Aid

The early fees is 1,80,000 this includes all lab fees An other fees , besides this exam fees depends on the subjects of regular and back log , there is reservation for category candidates and concession in fees

Campus Life

3

The college starts with freshers and ends with annual fest called Nexus , all students and faculty participate in the events along with the principal very enthusiastically, sports events are also held along the year , inter college and university sports are held at colleges. Various workshops and seminars are held also guest lectures

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel is provided by the college samstha and has a annual fees of nearly 90000 per year including stay facilities and food facilities, the hostel timings are morning 6 AM to 8 PM at night. On Sunday there is an extra 30 mins time for entry . Entries are made at the gate or entrance and exit of the student. The student need to get permission from parents and warden before going home from hostel. The warden calls the parent of student and asks if she is leaving for home and gets a letter and form written by the student . Every year for the renewal for the admission the health certificate and admission letter along with result are to be submitted , no year down students are allowed to stay at the hostel , the lunch and dinner facilities are available in the hostel itself which have fixed timings and also we can have a paid breakfast in the morning and in the evening. There are 4 mess at the hostel and one needs to register her name to have dinner in a particular hostel , the hostel locks the building gate at 11 and no one is allowed to leave after that , wifi facilities are also available on floor to floor , room cleaning service is not available but the poarch and bathrooms are cleaned everyday , each floor has 4 to 5 bathroom and toilet , each room has 3 beds and good ventilation facilities. No electronic equipment are allowed in the room for the students . There is a TV hall where you can enjoy watching TV also study there if need and an iron placed for the students , also they have small stove at the wardens cabin for the students , paid laundry facility is also available

Admission

I got this college through cap rounds and was not my first priority , my first priority was sir JJ college and Rachana Sansad college of architecture at Mumbai and BKPS at Pune , but got this one on cap round basis as marks were less for that cutoff and also as I was not from their university. The admission process was very good and smooth all arrangements were made correct but electricity was not available for the prints and other stuff. The eligibility is same as of other architecture college and same exams like Nata , jee mains 2 and cet and 12 pcm group marks are considered

Faculty

2

Per subject there are minimum 2 faculties and max 5 faculty , this makes too confusing as the faculty sometimes doesn't have co ordination among themselves , the exam pattern is in two steps insem of 30 marks and endsem of 70 marks , a lot students face backlogs in theory subjects. The faculty member behaviour was not a good experience for me

Night Life

3

There is a gym for only women with a fees concession for the girls of college and samstha , a hospital for the girls from school to college and hostel. Two cafeteria's in the campus and one in the college building, very costly food at the canteen and taste of food is not that good also not bad. There an auditorium in the building on the 4th floor of the college and two courtyards one square and one circular , small event like theme revel and panel jury are held at the square courtyard and birthday of principal and faculty at the circular courtyard. There is a ground for basket ball and football also another ground at the end of campus for other sports and activities. There are workshop rooms like wood cutting , laser cutting and structure for the architecture students the bachelor of architecture and bachelor of design are in the same building and have different events or some common events held. College is open till 6 pm and students can stay back for assignments

The reason i choose architecture because it fascinates me how a place can be developed into holistic place interests me . The curriculum has some good inputs but it doesn't make you industry ready extra efforts should be taken to learn advance softwares extra classes newer research etc discussion on advance technology becomes important in modern age how architecture is changing is not discussed

Placement Experience:

For architecure departments, usually there are no placements, but since this Institute is autonomous, they have startes conducting placements drive. Last year 10/12 students were placed in good firms all over banglore, pune, kolhapur. I plan on applying to different firms all over Maharashtra and would also hope to get placement via college since the packages that are offered are good. Placement percentage is anywhere between 12-15%. The highest package offered was around 5,40,000, average package for a architecture student would be-around 3lakhs.

Placement Experience:

There is no campus placement for architecture students. After completion of the degree, one can apply for jobs or opt for masters. Architects get an average starting salary of 20-25 thousand. The course is pretty expensive including college fees and printing prices. One can also open a private firm and earn enough money. There are very few open students getting placed. My plans after getting a degree are to apply for masters. For a teaching job, one must complete masters.
