College management is quite good in maintaining the campus life of student .Sometimes life can get hard here but you learn through your hardships only.

I opted for this course because I was good in Mathematics and I also wanted to explore the computer science field.Mathematics and Computing is an ideal course if you want both.

IITs are meant to be created for research purpose.There are lots of modern laboratory in every department equipped with lots of modern devices which you will not get easily in other engineering colleges.Coming to my course there is lots of opportunities in so many fields. You can have your research in core mathematics like Number theory,linear algebra and Complex analysis. You can have research in other advanced field like data mining ,cryptography and networks ,operation research and others .

Yes my college have well structured Career Development Center which helps student to get internships in there penultimate year.they schedule the companies who are going to visit for internships and provide all comprehensive detail to prepare for each of them.General stipend is between 10000 to 50000

Placement and job opportunities are excellent.The career development center tries its best to make sure that everyone gets placed.There are huge number of companies visiting the campus for recruitment December on-wards .All the final year student can apply to the companies in there respective fields.Generally the package and number of opportunities of jobs in the field related to software development ,data analytics is higher compared to jobs in the core department like civil and mechanical.For software -its around 15 lakhs per annum for others its around 8-10 lakhs per annum

All the IITs have a lot of events over the year 1) Spring Fest- This is Indias one of the largest cultural fest which happens in the month of January huge number of student from all over india come to our campus to participate and enjoy the 4 days of fest.2)Kshitij (or KTJ)-this is Indias largest techno managemant fest which also happens in month of January. It involves record participation from all over the country every year in field of robotix,data analysis and several other eventsApart from Spring fest and KTJ we have large number of other fest like Global Entrepreneurship Summit(BY E-cell) and BITWISE (by department of CSE) Mechanica(mechanical enginnering) ,petrofesta(by department of mining engineering) each of them involving active participation from huge number of students.

The FEE structure depends on what category you belongs and what course you are indulged in (UG/PG) recently fee structure was changed last year by HRD For B-tech its now 1 lakhs per annum tution fee and about 40 k other fee So its about 2 lakhs 80 thousand per year .If you belongs to SC/ST/PD you have to pay only others fee .You will get full tution fee waiver .For the persons having parents income less than 5 lakhs per year the tution fee is only 33% that is 66 k If income is less than 2 lakhs there is full tution fee waiver.

Yes are so many banks which are willing to pay loan at lower interest.Scholarships MCM- through this every student which have parent income less than 5 lakhs get the full fee waiver.Apart from fee waiver they also get some money each year.INSPIRE- I am currently getting this .All studnet who chose integrated MSC(except economics) and secured rank less than 10 thousand in JEE gets this

Campus life is the best part of the IIT KGP .You get to meet and live with the best brains of the country from which you can learn so much. There are large number of workshops organised every year.We have so many intra IIT and Inter IIT events in sports in every soprts.You can exell in any field you want to be.there are so many socities run by the students of the IIT KGP which allows you enhance your personality and giving you a position of responseblity.

Hostel facilities are decent.You get rooms depending on which Hostel you are in.For initial 1-2 year in b.tech you will have to share rooms.Once you are in 4th or final year there is option to get single room.Mess is totally privatised and food are good enough. We get food of different cusine .We get to decide our own menu in the meeting which are held in the common room in the hostel.

IIT Kgp has one of the largest alumni network in the world. From Sunder Piachai to Raghuram Rajan you will find a kgpian advancing in every field all over the world. yes they are extremely helpful. There is always warmth for the fellow kgpian in there heart.

We have 2 major exams per semester One is called Mid semester examination other one is End semester examination. Apart from that we have our lab test, quizzes and class test in each subjects.Labs can be hectic sometimes depending on the instructor and the subject but they are very useful to gain the basic depth of the subject.Exams can be very hectic if you missed your classes frequently and not studied regularly otherwise they are peaceful.

Once the result were out, the counselling process started.It was a total online process we had to fill our choices on the websites of JEE. We filled our choices in sequential manner.Like I filled Computer science first then I chose maths and computing which I got eventually. Once our choices were locked we had to report to our respective zone(mine was IIT Bombay).There we had some formalities and we were all set for admission in our IITs .We had to undergo all the mentioned medical test which was required by IIT kgp.Then when we came here we submitted our form and our room was allocated in the respective Hall of residence .We got ourself registered for the semester and then the classes began.

All the faculties of my university are highly qualified.They all come from some research background.Most of them have vast experience which they gained by involving in several projects over the years.Most of them wants us to learn by ourselves by giving proper assignment and projects.However they all are eager to help at any time possible.They are friendly in nature and very easy to access.
