Remarks

Admission through JEE advanced got AIR 800 in ST Category, anyone can easily apply in JEE mains, and after Clearing that one can appear in JEE advanced after that counseling process starts and we are required to fill in the choices of college and branch then according to the rank candidate got selected. No improvement needed in admission process

Course Curriculum Overview

2 semesters per year 2 exams per semester 1 mid-sem and 1 end-sem, intermediate level of questions are there if you know your department otherwise it's quite hard to pass if you don't have interest in your department.

Internships Opportunities

There is an organization named Career development center based in IIT KHARAGPUR through which students invites company for internship and placement opportunities. All the tech giants also come in internships like google, Microsoft, Uber, Ola, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, etc. With an average stipend of 1 lakh.

Placement Experience

Only final-year students are eligible for campus placement. All the tech giants come to kn campus placement and hire a good number of students. For Examples:- Google, Microsoft, Uber, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, etc. The highest packages are between 1.5cr to 2cr And the average is 12 to 14 lacs. Above 70 percent of students gets placement on campus. My plan is to be a data analyst after getting the degree and placement from my college

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is approximately 1.2 lakhs per semester which includes all the expenses like academic fees, exam fees, extracurricular fees, and hostel fees which include mess also. There are many scholarships available on IIT kgp ERP website which everyone can apply for accordingly. Many companies come in placement on campus every year.

Campus Life

A very long list can be made for all these in IIT KGP but some famous are- 1. Kshitij, Asia's largest techno-management fest(January) 2. Spring fest ( January) 3. Entrepreneurship cell 4. Business Club 5. Alumni cell 6. Encore 7. International relations cell All these are students' run body. The biggest central library of India. Classrooms are well furnished Inter IIT sports, Interhall championship for promotion sports and extracurricular activities.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel is very nice with basic amenities, mess food is above average with a diversified menu from all the regions of the country. Hostel fees are included in the semester fees which is 50000 per semester or 1 lakh per year.

Placement Experience:

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

Placement Experience:

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

My experience at St. Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course theory helps us gain a solid understanding of the subject matter. Film studies and Mass Communication theory classes has laid down the foundation of the subject- from what is a shot and the kinds of shots and angles, to the beginning of radio in India and essays by CS Pierce and John Berger. The course also includes practical classes in the sound labs, editing labs and we will learn to use a camera, as one of the things we will have to do in this course is make films of our own.

We have a placement cell helping students get placed. They keep posting opportunities like internships and fellowships throughout the year to groom students and give them exposure and experience. Placements can go to very high packages like those in Data Science, Big 4 consulting or core finance or banking jobs. CAs, CFAs and FRMs do well in the placements. The highest packages could surpass 12-13 LPA and median packages are close to 6-7 LPA. DE Shaw, Zomato, Myntra, Meesho, TCS and McKinsey are some top companies coming here.

Clg Review

Since I was interested in getting into an IIT from class 11, and IIT KGP was the only college that gave the best branch to college ratio among all other IITs that I was eligible for based off my rank. The admission process for my college for B.TECH involves JOSAA, a counselling system for all government engineering colleges in India where the eligibility criteria is based off JEE ADVANCED rank. Since you can only select one college through JOSAA, the only one i selected was this as this was the only one I was alotted based off my rank. The cutoff for my college is around 12000 for General Male and 20000 for General Female. This increases for other categories like SC ST OBC etc....Read More
