Remarks

You have to pass 12th and have a minimum of 60%. You can have studied from any course to get admission in B.Sc (Pass) Home Science in INSTITUTE OF HOME SCIENCE. You can find the application form on Delhi University's website du.ac.nic.in and it charges 250 rupees for merit-based admission. The dates for admission forms usually start from July(tentative). The reservation is available in ST/SC, PWD, and OBC categories.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose this course because it includes variety of subjects. It has subjects like resource management, fashion studies, communication, human development, textiles, nutrition and many more. You can opt for various subjects for further studies as Home science gives you experience in many subjects. The faculty is well-literate. For theory classes, there is faculty of one for 50 students and for practical classes, it's 25 students with 2-3 faculty members. The exams are in 4 months for one semester. And the exams are also easy and not that hard.

Class Size: 70Course Fees: INR 28000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The course takes 28,000 rupees including the lab facilities. It doesn't include society funds as college does provide them with any. According to my experience, the fees are a little costly seeing it's only for tuition.

Campus Life

The annual Fest of the college is named FERIA. It's usually conducted in the month of February. The journalism department also conducts its annual fest COMSCAPES and includes Nukkad Natak, treasure hunts and many more things. The library has all the books available for teaching and studying. Classrooms are also very spacious. But some classrooms don't have curtains and it's very hot in summer to take classes there. The college has societies of every kind including dance, singing, acting, arts, sports, and social work. And societies take part in fests and make it more fun to be in college. There are Instagram pages for every society of the college.

The students become eligible for placements after second year or even third year. Companies like Google, Deloitte, KPMG, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, McKinsey, etc visited our college for placements and recieved over 200 placement offers in the latest year 2025. Highest package of Hindu College is 36.5 LPA and the average package is 11.4 LPA. Hindu College has a high placement rate of 95% of eligible students securing a placement here. My plan is to prepare for UPSC or SSC-CGL after my degree.

My choice for B.Sc. Hons Food Technology in this college was not due to limited options but instead of that I knew what career choices I wanted to make for the life that I manifest. The Institute of Home Economics- new but a legacy soon

It was not like that I wasn't getting admission in other colleges except this one but the chice that I made was majorly due to the career planning that I had done in the early stages. I chose this college because of the advanced facilities it provide and also it is easier to commute for me to the college and back to my home and vice versa. Everything you needaa know about your college.

I chose this college as it it ranked in the top 3 amongst the other 8 DU colleges which has this course. Also, the location i find it too convinient for me. This college has very limited courses so there are decent number of children. I got confirmed admission from Gargi College also but that college has a bad reputation for things.
