Remarks
There is a cut-off list published every year students that pass the cut-off list can apply to the college. Though from this year students who qualify CUET exam may apply. The application form, fees, and dates can be found on the College website's notification panel. There is 47% reservation for the Christian candidates and usual for SC/STs, OBCs, and EWS category. The admission process involves an interview conducted in the college(wear formals for it). It is a usual 15 min interview to ask why you want to take the course.
Course Curriculum Overview
Chemistry Honours course is basically for those who love chemistry or are planning to take Chemistry as a subject in the UPSC exam. The faculty is outstanding the ratio is about 1:5. All the faculty members are pretty qualified and have doctorates from IITs or other reputable institutions. Teachers pay extra attention to all the students. They are easy to communicate with and help them wherever necessary. Some teachers may slack in teaching but will still provide quite good notes. The teaching method is very interactive and notes are provided for all the topics and subjects. The notes provided are very good and are from diverse books. There is a fixed schedule for assignments and exams. They are easy to pass if studied from the notes well. The teachers also provide the research opportunities in the college and the information about the available ones outside of the college.
Internships Opportunities
Internships of all sorts are provided like a salesperson, sales manager, content writer, creative designer, photographer, teacher, and for science students a research internship under a professor. Usually, these internships are for experience but in some cases, they may pay you well too.
Placement Experience
Placements usually start after the second semester. A variety of companies like Byjus, Namo India, Urban Calp, ICICI, DE Shaw, Oberoi groups, ABP news, Thomas Reuters, Microsoft, etc. visit the campus every year. More than 200 offers for jobs are made every year and a lot more for internships. Packages for jobs offered vary from 2,00,000-12,00,000 rupees. The campus placement cell informs the students of the jobs offered and the packages. About 10 students out of 50 take up the placement rest from the chemistry honours course goes for higher studies for the preparation of civil services.
Fees and Financial Aid
For fees, there is a term bill every semester of about 24,000 rupees and there are some other bills of about 1000 rupees that randomly pops up in the middle of the semester. College deadlines for fees and other payments are strict and if unable to pay there is a costly penalty to pay. There are also the University exam fees every semester of about 1200 rupees. Every year lot of scholarships are provided for financially poor students(annual income less than 5,00,000 rupees). The Head of the department announces the scholarships available so keep an eye out for that. One student can get at most one departmental scholarship and the total amount is about 28,000-50,000 rupees. There are other competitive scholarships too around the year. There are no in campus jobs during the study time. For the chemistry course, you have to pay for every apparatus that you might break during your study.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is cool. You get to do a lot of kinds of stuff, participate in a lot of programs make friends from all over the country, etc. There are many societies in the college like photography, music, maths, chemistry, leadership, newspaper reading group, IAS preparing cell, Japanese society, etc. To have fun in college you must join one. Each society conducts its functions, lectures, games, and other stuff all around the year. Every society has an individual fest and there is also a common fest in the college, both of which are held around March. The lecture halls are a little bit small but they are fully furnished with ACs and have a projector. The library is quite grand with books separated into sections, course-wise. There is a sitting area available in the library. There is a sport complex in the campus with a gym, a badminton court, a squash court, and table tennis tables. Equipment are provided by college. there is also a football ground and an outdoor basketball court.
