IIT Guwahati Review

IIT Guwahati is one of the top ranking colleges in India. It has ranked at 6th position by the India Today Rankings for the top government engineering colleges. It has been one of the most preferred Colleges by the students preparing for JEE in India. Since I shortlisted this college too, I filled out the application form from the official web portal of IIT Guwahati and applied for admission. The JEE Advanced Cutoff for computer science was 406 as the opening rank and 666 as the closing rank. After being shortlisted, candidates receive a call for counselling and they're supposed to pay the fees along with the security deposit.

The course curriculum in computer science of IIT Guwahati is vast yet complies with the world standards and keeps updating your bye here it has several practical and theoretical models that cover every aspect in the field of computer science the models include formal languages, automata theory, computer architecture and organisation, database management systems, engineering mechanics, mathematics, basic electronics introductory biology introduction to computing, sustainable development goals, design and analysis of algorithms, hardware lab, computer networks, electives like machine learning, economics and management. All the faculty holds a PhD degree and their extremely cooperative in explaining the module again and again. Faculty student ratio stands at 10:1.

IIT Guwahati has managed to bag 33 pre placement of first till now with the highest CTC of INR 2.5 crores and an average CTC of 75 lacs. A total of 56% of students were placed 140 companies had participated, including Google, Goldman Sachs, Adobe, Chalo, Microsoft, etc. Top recruiters included Qualcomm, Oracle, American Express, Walmart, Razorpay, groww, etc. Major job profiles included financial analyst, system engineer, engineer trainee, analogue engineer, digital engineer, systems engineer, product engineer, software development engineer, Etc. These companies had a record of recruiting students that had a previous internship a life project experience. Also, skills like negotiation, soft skills, communication skills, etc were observed in students who got placement at the first stage.

Institute of IIT Guwahati offers scholarships on a merit cum means basis, to the year wise class toppers from the second year. It includes a tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly stipend for 8 months. Another scholarship is awarded to 25% of non-SC/ST students who get a tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly stipend for 8 months. However, students who are unable to beg these scholarships or are not eligible can apply for the ICICI student loan which provides very low interest.

The campus life at IIT Guwahati was booming and extremely social. Campus is located in the North Guwahati city in the state of Assam it is one of the oldest IIT established in India. It has been ranked as the 17th best engineering college and ate in the overall category in NIRF India rankings. It has amazing annual festivals like Alcheringa, the annual cultural festival, Techniche, the annual techno management festival and Udgam, the annual entrepreneurship summit and research conclave. The campus has a hostel, a mess, juice centre, a stationery shop, a library, TV room, a sports room, laundry facilities etc. The internet here, is available 24/7.
