Remarks

Management is kind of shady when it comes to admissions, internals, and it also gets vindictive at times towards students who were involved in politics.

Entrance Preview

I came across the advertisement for the entrance exam (CAT) through a leading newspaper (Times of India Bangalore edition). I scored fairly well and got 7342 as my rank. With my interest being inclined towards core branches I opted for Mechanical Engineering with specialization in CAD/CAM.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

We had a comprehensive course curriculum and I specialized in CNC, CAD,CAM. We had exposure to various industrial experience and frequent field tours to enhance our practical knowledge. This definitely adds to the learning experience for an individual.

Internships Opportunities

We had various internship program both short-term and long term with decent stipend being offered to student who enrolled in these programs. Some of the companies include Appollo tyres, HAL, Cochin Shipyard and so on.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement cell for students did a decent job for inviting and conducting interviews for students. The usual process of shortlisting of candidates, campus interviews, and personal interviews comprised the complete process. Students got offers ranging from 10 lac per annum to 3.5 lac per annum from companies such as Infosys. TCS, Siemens and so on.

College Events

4

College Arts festival was the biggest event in our college and all the departments will participate to showcase their talent pool. This fest was a 4 days long event and the list of competitions include Dance, Singing, Writing, Painting, Plays and so on. We has prominent artists coming to this fest and participating as judges for the competition and thereby raising the standard of competition.

Fee Structure And Facilities

8000 Rs for free seat is quite feasible but the extra fee for exams, internals, lab, and library fee is an added burden and should be reduced to encourage students to utilize the resources.

Fees and Financial Aid

No such facilities was provided to us. Free seats were transferred to NRI quota and this process was under scanner as some of the faculties may have been involved in this process.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is heavily influenced by politics and people were fanatics about their choice of political party. Politics came above religion and then followed by caste, gender and origin of your birthplace. For outsiders this may be very discouraging yet this made it fun somehow, surviving through this made me a better person.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel facilities needed a lot of improvement in my time as ragging, theft and frequent incidents of violence was reported from the hostels. This was damaging for the college's image and now I believe enough precautions have been taken to change the situation.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors were gem and they did their best to support the junior batches, exceptions are everywhere and we did meet a few who were brutes but overall they were sweet to the juniors.

Exam Structure

Exams were pretty hectic with crammed up schedules such as lab and written exams on the same day. The University provides very less leniency as compared to other colleges and this makes it difficult for students who have supplementary papers and backlogs to manage their time and it only burdens the students to stay stressed. This is the only factor that should change in my opinion we should not stress out an individual with such hectic schedules.

Faculty

3.5

We had seasoned faculties who had vast expertise in their domains. The faculties had a blend of strictness and friendly behavior. Overall they were very supportive and approachable.

Placement Experience:

The placement here is top notch. This year in my campus the highest CTC offered was 56.5lpa by PALOALTO. Placements process is centralised at coimbatore though. Students are eligible for campus placements from third year or s5. Average package in computing department ranges from 10-12lpa. My plans after degree is to pursue MS: opportunities of which are provided by the college itself. In computing department almost 90% of the students have been placed according to the seniors I talked to. However it is lower in other streams.

Civil engineering is a course with least placement in every engineering colleges. Students are placed during their fourth year in college. Sobha Constructions Ltd is one of the main companies that visits college. 200000rupees package is the average package offered. Les than 25 percent civil engineers get placed. I plan to prepare for GATE exam and pursue more in this course.
