Remarks
The admission process was not too long as it largely depended on how your top performance in the 12th standard was. Based on that admission was granted. I did not apply via reservation either in UG or PG. In Master's the admission depended on the entrance exam each student takes and only a certain number of students are shortlisted for the interview based on the former's performance. It is up to the interviewers (faculty members of the program) to select the students based on their evaluation criteria and performance. The registration forms of the same are available online and if granted admission- it is done on campus. However since the COVID-19 pandemic came, the entire admission procedure including interviews for MA have been happening online. While entrance exams have been happening in designated digital centres
Course Curriculum Overview
During both my UG and PG at Ambedkar University, I had some of the best faculty who encouraged critical thinking and the curriculum was also engaging for both BA History as well as MA Gender Studies. Each semester was of four months and in that period, the exam format depended on each individual faculty member as per her/his wish. If you put in enough effort on your part then passing is not difficult at all. In fact, you can score brilliantly if you're regular in class as well as punctual with the assignments. Most faculty hold Ph.D. degrees from reputed universities and their teaching method included both theory as well as critical thinking- and lots of research as well which added to our knowledge and academic experience.
Internships Opportunities
In Master's, an internship is a mandatory component for a few courses including Gender Studies which I was part of. Here students are expected to find internships on their own and once found and applied- then keep both the assigned supervisor and the university professor coordinating internship in the loop. Students unable to find internships on their own are helped by the coordinators.
Fees and Financial Aid
This laregly depends on each student individually as students from diverse backgrounds come each year to AUD. Each student who is among the top 6 academically in his/her class is provided with an academic scholarship of minimum Rs. 5000/- and ranging to Rs 8000/- depending on how the student is performing. The university offers a form of financial assistance known as 'Fee Waiver" for students who are in need of the same and apply for it. Jobs on campus are provided to research scholars on the basis of their academic performance and approval from the individual professors and administration. On average, the fees were usually 23,00 rupees per quarter.
Campus Life
I spent 5 years in Ambedkar University Delhi, three years of undergraduate and two years of postgraduation. Since its inception, the university has had an annual cultural festival called AUD@CITY which brings together our university along with various other colleges of DU to participate in numerous events and win prizes. All classrooms are equipped with projectors for the faculty to make classes more lively. In the library of our campus, there are numerous books and journals available on diverse subjects including research methods that can come in handy for teachers, students, and the non-teaching staff. There are multiple clubs, societies, social groups, and extra curriclur activities run by students which ensure that no student is left out and involved in life beyond academics. Personally speaking, I myself was part of QUIZZARDS- the quiz society of Ambedkar University in my undergrad.
