Remarks

SAU is good in faculty and curriculum but its not good in facilities. Sau don't have any good campus. It feels like that one is coming in an institute to attend classes. Despite having great fees i.e. almost 30k per semester they provide us with zero facilities. Its a place for hostllers. Students coming from other states can find this place heaven. But for day scholars like me its like a punishment. I don't feel like going to college as you are excluded. Either they should have hostels for everyone or they should have other facilities.

Entrance Preview

I gave Sau entrance last year for the course I am currently enrolled. They shortlisted 72 students and among them I was the one. They didn't give any score card. Shortlisting process depends from course to course. In other courses they shortlisted nearly about 150 students as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

M.A. sociology is a theoretical course and so it is SAU. The curriculum is similar to other universities. But one thing which makes SAU different from others is that its curriculum makes us learn about other south asian countries as well which helps us in broadening our vision about the society. But I feel this course can be made more practical.

Internships Opportunities

No they don't provide any internship and neither they have any placement cell. It is one negative point. As a student I feel we should be atleast provided with internship facilities if not with jobs placement. Students can find internships on there own but there are students from different parts of the world who know very less about the place.

Placement Experience

0.5

There is no placement cell which is a drawback here. Sau should think about starting with that as it will help students to explore many opportunities and they don't have to take so much stress after completion of their studies. Students are not just from India so setting up a placement cell offering jobs all across the SAARC countries will be unique and excellent.

College Events

2

Only seminars and confrences takes place in SAU. Whatever else happens, happens for the hostel students. Sau don't have there own university fest. Either they have hostel fest, hostel freshers etc. Me being the day scholar feels excluded and so do other day scholars feel which doesn't create positive vibes around us.

Fee Structure And Facilities

SAU provides many scholarships for the students which is the best part. But for other students it becomes little expensive. But if I compare it with Ip university or other private colleges it is still very cheap. But when it comes to Delhi university or other government institutions it is very expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't have any scholarship but many students do have. Few scholarships offers them free education and stay and even provide them with stipend every month. The stipend provided in SAU is high if compared to other universities which is the best part for students.

Campus Life

1

Sau don't have any extra curricular activities. It has good gender ratio though. There are good labs for other courses like computers. But Sau has only masters course so they don't have much activities except seminars. I am a person who loves extra curricular activities so I am finding it very tough to cope up with atmosphere like this.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

I am a day scholar so not much aware about the facilities. But many of my friends are there so on basis of their reviews I can say that hostel facilities are good. There is proper cleanliness in rooms. Although the mess food is not so good, students find trouble in that.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are helpful and nice but SAU don't have any alumni network here. We don't have alumni meets but I guess it will start soon.

Exam Structure

Life in SAU is very hectic. We have mid term as well as end term. Although they carry 30% weightage each but still content for that is too much. We have regular assignments and presentations. Curriculum makes our life hectic. It becomes difficult to live your own life. Even the readings are not pilled. Every week or every day we have to go and take print out of our readings which consume most of our time. Seminars, confrences takes place weekly but still in such hectic atmosphere it becomes impossible to manage things and studies together.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty of Sau is the best. Due to some reasons I have attended 2-3 colleges and I found SAU faculty is the most qualified and the way they teach is excellent. Due to limited number of students they attend each and every student on regular intervals. Its a completely different experience here in SAU with the faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course that I opted for is Political Science and it is very relevant to the exam that I am preparing for. I often take help of the online material they provide. It is often recommended curriculum for UPSC/MPSC/political journalism. However they need to provide teachers or short video lectures do that the course become comprehensive.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant and covers all the history topics comprehensively. The study material is very good as many upsc aspirants and students preparing for competitive exams refer it. Though the curriculum can be improved by limiting and only adding the essential topics in it. There is too much of unnecessary information which makes it difficult to understand at times.
