Remarks

The minimum eligibility requirement to apply for B. El. Ed Admission 2021 at Delhi University is 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in any stream and must have scored minimum pass marks in each of the four subjects. There is an entrance examination, DUET through which you'll be selected based on your obtained marks. The total marks are 400 and 100 questions are asked. You will find the application form once DU has released its notice regarding the admissions of that year. The application form of DUET and DU JAT both are released at the same time on the official website of DU. http://www.du.ac.in/ This year the forms were released in August due to the ongoing pandemic. The exam was in September and admissions began in November. There are Quotes for different sections. OBC, SC, ST, Sikh Minority, Christan Minority, Children of Martyrs, EWS, and PWD. I was from the Unreserved category so I don't have more idea on this.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I didn't know about this course at first but when I did some research, I found this course rather exciting. I was too done with science and engineering and wanted something really real and pragmatic. This course was just that. The subjects are very practical and interesting. And I know that I would've learned a lot in these 4yrs. We have 9 subjects. Since this is a girls' college, most of the faculty members are females. But we also have male members. There are a lot of faculty members and we haven't even seen them all till now. (Since it's all online) All the professors are well qualified. Most of them are alumni of DU itself. The environment is nothing like it's in school. The teachers here are a lot more understanding. Each one of them. You can share all your problems with any of them and can expect the same care and support. They love us like we are their children. We haven't given any term exams yet, so can't rate how difficult it can be.

Internships Opportunities

4

This course includes mandatory internships. You will have to teach in some schools in Delhi to gain the required experience. It won't be paid. You'll have to work as a teacher and under the guidance of the teachers already present at that school. You'll be marked every day for your work. And it'll be there on your mark sheet. So it's quite important. But it won't be tough. You'll be interacting and teaching children since your first year only. It is one of our subjects, SCP (School Contact Program). It isn't hard. We just perform different activities for them every week. It makes us get more comfortable with them and ourselves. We're getting very familiar with our course with each passing day.

Placement Experience

1.5

There is nothing about placements as such in this course. You've to apply to schools that you like after you've graduated. You'll have to give the exams of that school if you're applying for a government school. You'll get preference over others since you'll be a pass out from Miranda, but it won't guarantee you a job. Of course, you can do your Master's and doctorate after you graduate to aim for higher posts. Or you can take up a job at a school and complete your master's from distance mode. As for me, I've planned on joining a government school in Mumbai. Since I've always been in love with that place since I was a child. I want to settle there. And a government school because the salaries are good. The starting salary of a normal teacher at a government school is 60,000 INR monthly which is quite decent when you compare it with other professions.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The fees are not that high since it's a government Institute. It's 19000 per annum for the general category. You can avail hostel facilities as well but that's merit-based and the seats are very few. There aren't any scholarships that I know of but yes there are aids for students facing a financial crisis. You can avail of the services once you've taken the admission. You have to fill a form and provide some documents and once it's verified, you'll get the assistance. This college doesn't promise you a job. But if you are smart enough to score and get into Miranda House then trust me you'll get a good job for sure. There are internships. (I think they're non-paid. Since it's just for the experience that you need for your future.) See, DU is the best University in India. With the degree and qualifications, it also gives you a tag. When someone sees your CV when you go for a job, they'll put you first when they see you are a pass out of DU. So it helps.

Campus Life

5

Miranda House is on the North campus which explains a lot itself. There are a lot of prestigious colleges in the North Campus and thus the environment is serene. You'll be able to make a lot of friends and find the exact group of people that you can vibe with. The campus is so beautiful! You can't get enough of the red buildings and beautiful gardens! It's just the right place for you if you're aesthetic. Since the college is closed due to the pandemic, we haven't had the chance to visit the campus or the library, or our classrooms. We've just seen the pictures. So can't explain how it's like. I've just heard that Miranda's library is one of the largest in DU. There are A LOT of clubs and societies. There are a total of 29 clubs. You can enroll in as many as you like. From acting to debating to dancing to singing to writing to traveling it is all of it! It has its cadet coy, NCC. You can participate in that too, given you pass the physical test.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

As much as I've seen heard and researched, the hostel life at Miranda is just like movies. It's good. It's just that, very few can live it. The seats are very few and it's merit-based. For instance, for B.El.Ed only 3 beds are available i,e., one room. You have to score high enough in your DUET exam to get a hostel at Miranda. There are other hostels as well on the DU campus. And there's always the option of PGs and flats(which are better if you want to live the Delhi life.) You can find all about the hostels of Miranda House at https://www.mirandahouse.ac.in/residence/thehostel.php You can register for hostels once you've taken the admission. You have to submit your domicile, admission receipt, and 10th and 12th mark sheet to warden@mirandahouse.in Please note, you can't avail of hostel facilities if you're from Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and places nearby.

Other Applied Colleges

RIE Bhubaneswar | B.A. + B.Ed integrated course

The cut off of RIE in 2021 was very high. It was 98% for the general category.

Heritage, Kolkata | B.Tech

I eventually figured out that I wasn't really interested in Engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Basically I choosed this course because I wanted to be a teacher since childhood but when I listened to my family members I came to knew that govt teachers earn alot. Other than that our college is too good for b.el.ed. teachers keep check on us for your studies. And to apply b.el.ed in real life we will be going to slum areas for around a week at the end of the semester to get to know things better. Few areas were teaching methods should be improved is that one of our teacher is to strict she just throws out of the class without giving attendance. She should understand that we're travelling from so far it takes around 1hour 30min for me to reach college and not giving attendance is a really bad thing.

l choose a b.el.ed course because it's an addition to graduation + professional degree course. In this course job opportunities more than in the other courses so l choose this course and our experience enhanced about how to deal with primary children. It makes us responsible for our future young ones. The faculty is also good. All the faculty like the library, curriculum lab, and sports ground available easily. The teaching method is good All the teachers are very supportive and we'll be qualified. Their teaching skills are very nice. they gave us notes for a per topic.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I have always wanted to become a teacher. The faculty: student ratio in this course is 1:10. Most of the teachers in this course have Doctorates. Others are in the process of completing their doctorates but are still highly competent and impressive. They teach mostly by lecture method. B.Ed is a course with an annual system. So main exams happen only once a year. But throughout the year, several activities and assignments are given. The exams are quite challenging, they will require you to study in depth and be on point.
