What Students Say
Likes
- The college has built it's own networks and has a good reputation overall.
- NSS is quite active here and conducts majority of events.
- Most events here are organized by students single handedly which provides them exposure.
Dislikes
- Basic facilities like proper hygienic in washrooms is not present. Despite such high fees there is no air conditioning in classrooms. Even the library has very less and construced seating space with less availability of relevant course related books.
- The faculty here is least considerate and instead of teaching they ask students to give presentations the whole semester. Their teaching methods are not up to the mark especially in a course where they are expted to train us as futures teachers.
- There is absolutely no campus life. The college is very strict about attendance and calls PTM every once a whil even for students above 75% attendance. The fests here have no vibe at all and there is no placement in our course.
Course Curriculum Overview
Job security in teaching profession made me inclined towards rhe course having bith private and government job opportunities. The curriculum provides us with nearly 4 months of school internship which provides us with immense exposure and enhances aout skill. Although it is unpaid but it prepares us for real life teaching challenges. But according to me we waste our 1st year reading unnecessary theories and subjects which are of no use in real life. Exams are held every semester which are of easy to moderate level.
Internships Opportunities
Our college collaborates with different private schools where we get to do unpaid internships for months. It is very crucial for self development , growth and having a real life experience of a school ecosystem.
Placement Experience
Students in B.ed course become eligible to take jobs in the last semester i.e 4th semester. The college does not provide any placement in our course instead students themself have to mail and contact different schools to secure a teching job. Average package a student can expect depends on many factors like their subjects, qualifications and skills. On an average one can expect around 6lpa in private sector. For securing jobs in government schools Students have to clear exams like DSSSB etc where average package ranges from 10 -12 lpa. Many of my seniors are doing jobs in private schools as techers while some teach online and have their you tube channels. I am planning to do masters in English literature from DU to increase my knowledge and job opportunities.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees of the 2 year B.Ed course is apround 2,30,000 ( Including university charges) Additional 5000 is demanded if you have upgraded your college in IP university. 1st year fees is around 1,23,000 2nd year fees is exact 1,06,650 The fees of students from management quota is higher than others. There are no merit based scholarships offered here.
Campus Life
The fests in MSI are very dull and they call bands and singers nobody has ever heard of. Mostly the fests are scheduled in months of Jan-Feb. The competitions and activities are very limited. The library has very less relevant course related books and the books prescribed in the curriculum is never present in library for student's use. Despite such high fees there are no air conditioned classrooms and the lighting is extremely bad. Every class has one projector. There is a big lawn where students play all kinds of outdoor games like cricket, football , badminton and volleyball. The college organizes annual sports day in month of January which is at large scale with a variety of sports events and both solo and group competitions. There are a few societies related to fashion and singing. NSS cell is mostly active in the campus. The events are very limited like dandiya event and diwali mela.
Admission
I applied in DU colleges where there were only 15 seats for b.ed languages. I applied in other colleges of IPU like kamal institute and SCERT beside others. I wasn't selected in DU due to availability of only 15 seats. My first preference was MSI only because I had heard from people that it was a very good college with a good reputation. Also all modes of transportation was available and it was closest to my house hence I chose it. To take admission in B.ed one can give an entrance called IPU CET conducted by GGSIPU. if the seats are left vacant then CUET students are considered. I took admission via CUET which is conducted by NTA nationwide. My university rank was 13. Admission is hassle free but has many steps involved. It is solely based on merit. There is no interview or group discussion required for admission.
Faculty
There are 12 professors for 100 students in B.Ed department. The professors are approachable but the faculty student relationships are not so good due to overstrict and rigid approach. Arti mam , Vaneeta mam and Monika Davar mam are some of the good professors in terms of both teaching and mentoring. There are many professors I don't like due to favoritism and discrimination based on caste and their not-so-good approach towards teaching. Calss tests are conducted frequently while exams happen every semester on time which are easy and doable. Mostly students pass the exam very easily. The course curriculum is moderately relevant.
