Remarks

Admission was merit-based. Application form, application fees, application dates, and all other information were available on Delhi University's website. The admission process was quite smooth. For improvement, I think DU can add a feature that can automatically shortlist the colleges in which we clear cutoff marks. So we don't have to make a list of colleges we are eligible for

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I am pursuing a BA in history Hons. as I want to join civil services. There are nearly 120 students in our course, divided into 2 sections depending on their medium of study. There were approximately 60 students in each section. All teachers are well qualified in their field. As it's pandemic time, classes are going online. But teachers are trying their best to engage with students. Like in our class all students must keep their cameras turned on. Also, there is a Mentor-Mentee group of 20 students, in which a teacher apart from our department mentors us and tries to solve any type of problem we face whether academic or non-academic. Till now I didn't give any exams but we get assignments and get at least 20 days to complete them.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

College society like Saksham: Career counseling placement and E-cell of college keep updating about various internship offers like a content writer, graduate trainee, management trainee, marketing executive, Equity Research Trainee, HR trainee, Administrative trainee, etc. The average stipend is about Rs. 8000 per month.

Placement Experience

3.5

Satyawati college provides ample placement opportunities. Every year annual placement fest Innovation is held in which more than 1500 students apply and more than 60 companies visit college. The highest package offered till now is 32 LPA and the average package is 12 LPA. Companies like OYO, Decathlon, Planet spark, Biju's, Swiggy, Zomato, Bajaj Capital, etc. have recruited more than 400 students from the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for my course is 7550 rupees, which is quite reasonable. There are various scholarships for economically weaker section students and other caste-based scholarships for students. Some societies help students to groom for internships and placements and also provide opportunities. Like Saksham: Career counseling, placement and E-cell of college keep updating about internship and placement offers of various companies. There is TEDx Satyavati society which holds various seminars and webinars for students and guides and motivates them about personal as well as professional life.

Campus Life

3.5

There are different types of fest that are organized in Satyawati college like fresher's party, annual fest, etc. Generally, fests are conducted in the month of Nov-Dec. As college is closed for now so libraries have shifted online to WhatsApp and telegram groups. They provide all study materials' pdf, newspaper and magazine pdfs in both Hindi and English language. Moreover, they provide home delivery services. There are various students societies and clubs like dance society, Abhivyakti: the debating society, Saksham: Career counseling, placement and E-cell, TEDx Satyavati, CDF, illuminator counsel, art and literary club, NCC, NSS, etc. All societies are highly active.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.
