Remarks

The admission process was really smooth and hassle-free, everything was being done online. I filled the application form for merit and entrance-based admissions on the Delhi University website itself. I had to pay a fees of INR 1000 for the same. Since I'm from the Unreserved category, I didn't avail any reservation benefits. Once the cut-offs started rolling in, I kept checking the DU admission portal for information on the course I wanted to opt for BA (Hons) Economics and as soon as the cut-off dropped near my percentage, I got into Satyawati College.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I'm in my freshman year, pursuing BA (hons) Economics from Satyawati College. I chose this course due to my early interests and obvious inclination towards the subject. Being from a commerce background, I had a foregoing familiarity with the course curriculum. Furthermore, the college consists of a well-versed faculty for each department. In this era of online education, I feel that the professors are doing their best to make the class interactive, interesting and learner-friendly. Even though I'm in my first semester, the teachers take class quizzes, tests, internals and give class presentations from time to time to put the student's understanding and abilities to use.

Internships Opportunities

4

Since I'm in the first semester of my freshman year, i haven't applied or worked in any internships yet. Nevertheless, I am known to the fact that regular internship and job opportunities are being provided to the students of all years in the college through the placement cell.

Placement Experience

4

Saksham: the Placement and E-cell of Satyawati college(M) serves as an interface that allows college students to reach out to the respective recruiters and get quality exposure through internships and job opportunities. In coordination with the Placement cell of Delhi University, Saksham assists students in the registration process. The cell provides each and every student of the college with opportunities for growth irrespective of his/her course or year. Past recruiters have been Byju's, Urban Company, Decathlon, Zomato, POPXO, and many more.

Fees and Financial Aid

As we all know, the majority of the colleges of the University of Delhi demand a very small amount as fees prove them to be a very feasible option for the students. The cost of studying here at Satyawati College comes mostly from staying in PGs or rented apartments, as there is no hostel facility provided in our college. All in all, the cost of living in Delhi and studying at Satyawati College is reasonable from the perspective of someone who's from a middle class family. Student scholarships, and financial assistance are also provided to those qualifying and in need. However, since everything is being done online due to the Pandemic, the cost of studying at Satyawati college comes down to just paying the fees for the whole year.

Campus Life

4

Firstly, i would just like to go ahead and state that I'm the part of a pandemic-stricken batch due to which I am yet to experience the 'campus life' of Satyawati college. As for social life, the crowd here at Satyawati college is really good; students are interactive, intellectual, understanding, and cooperative. Furthermore, the college consists of several active societies which are run, both entirely and partially, by the students. These societies contribute majorly to the all-round growth of a student in college by providing the much-needed experience in different work departments. Some of the most famous and active societies of Satyawati College are :- Saksham: the placement and E-cell of Satyawati(M), RAW: the dance society, Satyawati Consulting Group etc. Moreover, the students can also join NCC and NSS groups. Apart from this, the students have full access to the online library of the college, which contains all necessary books and doc files on study material.

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.
