NIT Calicut, M.Tech In Civil Engg.
Reviewed on Nov 5, 2015

Remarks

The entire college management was really good and well maintained by the charged authorities. From its cleaning to the teaching, it was tip top. Overall it was good.

Entrance Preview

After my B.tech from Jalpaiguri Govt. Engineering College i have appeared in GATE Entrance in 2012 and secured 501 Gate score. While filling up form for NIT in CCMT i had given few best colleges preferences, Among the all the third preference as NIT CALICUT i got directly in 1st round. I opt this college because it was the 3rd best NIT in India at that time.

Internships Opportunities

My Internship experience was awesome as because including me we six students did summer internship in CSIR-CRRI, Delhi. As we all know that Central Road Research Institute of India is the only prime research institute of india and it delivers lots of features, new improved techniques from the newly implemented systems, innovative ideas to the research scholars from the top class scientists involving in various research projects in CRRI. At that time our stipend was Rs.8000/- per month.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements and job oppurtunities were also good. Many more well known, renound companies use to visit the campus for the job selction and offering sound packages to the NITans in Country and abroad too.

College Events

4.5

Ragam was the well known annual social fest celebrated in the year which was the 2nd largest fest after IIT Madras in South India. Crores of money were spent out during those days and students from our college and other colleges use to come and participate in various competition, contests, programmes and events. Apart from that Tech fest was there and many other cultural programmes was held side by side.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure ranges from Rs.18000 to Rs.21000 varies in odd and even semesters. Apart from that we have to pay bills of fooding. So at that time within Rs.8000 of stipend we manage the expenses by anyway. But nowadays stipend increased so i don't think students will face problems regarding money matter.

Fees and Financial Aid

Free medical facilities were providing by the college to all the students of the college. I was not aware of loan facility whether they were providing or not.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life was the golden period of my life. Staying in hostels far from own home with all the friends is a different kind of feelings. It teaches us how to stay single, how to manage works. Sports ground was large enough, multi facillity labs were available in the campus.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

For the m.techs Apartments was there, it was wide enough and good. Cleaning staffs use to come everyday morning and clean the area. There were total 7 messes, any one can get food of their own choise.

Alumni/Alumna

As a alumni or as a senior student i must say to all my juniors that stay well, live the life to the full not only by enjoying but also sharing thoughts and innovative ideas to the nation and raise a helping hand to the others in need to become a developed india, a digital india.

Exam Structure

See there was lots of pressure in m.tech in compare to b.tech, so in 1st year of m.tech it was too hectic but in 2nd year no class was there only project work was there so students can get time little bit to spent.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty standard was awesome, they were so helpful in guiding the students at each and every steps whether in the class or outside of the class. They use to arrange various skill development programme viz. seminars, presentations, software application

Placement Experience:

Placements for Mtech Instrumentation Technology at Cochin University of Science and Technology are moderate. Students become eligible for placements from the third semester. Companies from Electronic, automation, software, and core engineering field visit the campus. The average package is around 5-7 LPA, and placement opportunities mainly depends on student skills and projects. Many students choose higher studies, research after completing the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Data Science is a rising field in computer science. It has lots of oppurtunities in todays world and easy compared to other fields, which made me choose data science. The curriculum consist of various computer programming languages including Python, R and so on which are vital in the field of data science. There are also experienced faculties for teaching of the programming languages. I personally felt that lab hours are not adequate and also the available hours are also not properly utitlised by some teachers. At the end of each semester we have exams and results are published soon as the exams are over, no lagging compared to other universitites.

Placement Experience:

IIT Palakkad performs admirably under the direction of IIT Madras, and the college's placement record is as impressive. The college achieves a placement rate of 100 percent. The placement committee at the college is so dedicated that they are able to not only attract good firms but also assist us during the placement stages. Our batch's maximum package was 35 LPA, while the average package was roughly 15 LPA. During the placement drive, companies such as Google, Arista Network, TCS Research, McKinsey, Honeywell, Texas Instruments, and Microsoft visited the campus.

College management is efficient. But the office staff is irresponsible. We have to give our certificates before admission, but they will store the certificates as a irrelevant piece of paper. We got our certificates back as folded and dirty.
