Remarks

None at all. It makes you who you are and never leaves you.

Entrance Preview

An internal screening that resulted in me being a part of the college. The personal and scholastic interviews were very well mapped and the panel was serious in their selections.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum differs basis what you opt for. The college is infamous for its Arts curriculum and the alumni is commendable. I opted for Arts and then narrowed down for a mixed bag of Economics and Commerce in keeping with the sort of career options I wanted to take up once passed out. But I joined Xavier's more for its character-building reputation.

Internships Opportunities

I interned at an agency where the stipend at the time - around 2002 was INR 3500. The college's communications wing did not provide us with options but visiting faculty would often help pick out some of the students.

Placement Experience

3

Not so great when I was there. However I hear that it has changed over time. Now there are a number of agencies and corporates that have begun selecting students during the placements season.

College Events

5

From Malhar to alumni meets if you transition from Xavier's to XIC, the experience is quite fulfilling. It is also one of the biggest college events in the country and the largest in Mumbai therefore being a part of the team also helps set the pace for what you are up against once you are out in the corporate world.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It was pretty low back in the 2000s so I am now thinking its increased over time. But the value for money derived from working there is pretty phenomenal.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Honours programme is great if you're planning to study further abroad. The Literature, History and Economics honours programme are key.

Campus Life

3.5

If you're not part of Xavier's or XIC, you've missed out on a chunk of life is what I would think. There are no biases here in terms of race, sex, ethnicity, political or economic status. the world collaborates under one roof here and the possibilities are endless.

Hostel Facilities

5

8/10 for the hostel facilities and 10/10 for the mess food. If Uday is still running the canteen you have to eat his yummy burjee and bread or maggi.

Alumni/Alumna

The most fantastic in the country. from Sunil Gavaskar to Vidya Balan, Smita Patil, Alyquee Padamsee, Zakir Hussain etc. have passed out of this institution.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is a mixed bag. In college it is more theoretical. Not so much practical. In XIC, there are projects and assignments as well as theory.

Faculty

5

Fantastic. The faculty's seriousness in the subject matter and handling of its students are only facilitated by the Jesuits strong culture codes. Especially in terms of ensuring discipline is being maintained and both morality and humility are given impetus no matter what the odds. The strict policies including its no-bribe approach help set the pace for a wonderful experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Quite substandard and below average. Prioritised rote learning over critical thinking. Just a rubber stamp for a degree. No actual education ever took place. Exams were anually or bi annually. Exams were difficult if you cannot write 30 pages in 3 hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.

Yes, there is no specific place where we get to know that whether the college is open or not on a specific day like the day which has been declared closed by the government. The college doesn’t provide this facility for us. We have to move all towards our home to the college to get this thing.
