We are growing with KNU also

After Jadavpur University It is the only option for me for B-tech in Metallurgical Engineering in West Bengal. I have appeared for JEELET2020 and through counselling, I got to this university. I have to fill an online form with an admission payslip and other relevant documents. The overall admission procedure is quite simple.

In KNU they have their syllabus because it is an autonomous university and till today when I am writing the review I think the curriculum is quite descriptive and lab oriented which is necessary. Faculties are good and highly qualified all are PhD holders and some are also working on research work. Some faculties specially HOD, Director, TPO have industrial experience of more than 15 years. The semester question is tough to pass.

We are in 5th sem only but HOD, Director & TPO promissed us to provide internship at IIT KGP, IIT Bombay, NML Dhanbad, Tata Steel, Tata Metaliks, JSPL, Jai Balaji Steels and some other companies at Howrah division and Durgapur Division. They have said that after this sem means in the 6th sem we will get internship opportunities and also in 7th sem. But recently NML (National Metallurgical Laboratory) arranged a one month Industrial Training on Metallurgy and we are the participants of that.

Though we are the first batch of B-Tech we do not have any idea about B-tech placement Diploma has three pass out batches and they have got 14k to 15k average salary offered by the companies near Durgapur, Howrah division. So we are expecting to get a good placement because KNU is always competing with JU for the engineering division. I want a job after the 7th sem. If any one of our university authorities sees my review please provide us with good placement. The pass out of 2019 and 2020 of Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering are also getting offers still now from Training and Placement Cell to reach out company directly.

Fees are comparatively high for poor students. I am from a very poor family so I have some difficulties gathering the fees. But they provide scholarships and financial assistance but they should reduce the fees. They provide placement after the 7th sem.

Campus life is good, classrooms are very nice, common rooms, gym, playground, canteen, auditorium, water atm all are there in the campus of KNU. Digital libraries, normal libraries all are available with huge books stock. Sem books are provided by the book bank. All social programs are arranged by the University authority. IIE cell has different groups like entrepreneurship team, innovation team and many other groups under IIE are there.

Hostel is quite costlier than other Govt College or Universities it charges Rs 500/month only for lodging fooding extra cost. But Hostel location is in proper asansol market area, but students personal things like trimmer, charger, board, mobile, wallet are stolen by others because KNU does not have seperate hostel for engineering students, all department students are allocated in the same hostel. So I suggest taking PG near University. Food is also lower side at KNU's Hostel. Hostel is 3km away from KNU campus so you have a dedicated bus fare for every day. But if anyone needs this facility then at the time of admission fill up a form for Hostel and depending on your distance on google map and your family income they will allocate you for Hostel.
