JASIR AFTAB's Review On Jamia Millia Islamia University-[JMI], New Delhi

Examinations taken- JEE mains-159, jamia entrance exam-90 i opted for this collage as its a central university located in delhi itself which is very beneficial for getting placed.

The curriculum is good and updated as per new guidelines of AICTE and the advancement of technology in the world. There are regular labs for practical. But i would say that practicals are not paid that much attention as they should be. The course cover all the necessary topics. Classes are regular from 8 in the morning to 1 in the noon while practical takes place in second half on alternative days.

Internship fair is organised every year but its not very fruitful as good companies don't attend the fair.

Job opportunities are good here with the main recruiters including tcs, wipro, L&T, SIemens also recruit and give a handsome amount. Placement is not a thing to be worried about once you are here. Almost 80 percent of the student get placed with many having multiple job offers.

There are no annual fest of our collage though there are many technical societies having their annual celebrations which include many extracurricular activities. There is also a foundation day celebration at a very large scale including different competitions and performances like mushaira and qawwali and many other traditional performance giving actual glimpse of our culture in this modern era of westernization.

Fees is the thing that makes all worries go away with the annual fees around 7000 only the is the collage that every one could afford. There are no extra charges. The hostel fees is also a mere sum of 5000 per annum and mess is 2000 per month. It is almost free as compared to private collages charging a huge sum of 1lac per anum.

Loans are not provided as the fees itself is very low almost negligible. Scholarships are available with the top 3 in every year student getting a scholarship of 3000 rupees. Central government scholarship is also available for the minority students of around 25000 rupees per annum making the collage almost free for every student.

Gender ration is quiet good. In engineering it would be 1 girl to 3 boy. While in other course it increase with the arts courses having the female more than the males. People from different region of country are here and also from different countries making this university a vital centre of exchange of different traditions.

The exams are semester wise. Practical lab are on alternative day and we get a lot of free time. There is gap between successive exam. There is a lot of free time which we can utilize to do different projects. Though there are 2 sessional in every semester.

Faculty in college is qualified with almost each member holding a ph.d degree. The guest teachers i must say are not good. There are some teachers who takes the studies seriously and teaches very well and are dedicated to student such hamid sir of electrical department but on the other hand the are many teachers who just pass on time without going into depth of subject.
