Entrance Preview

Admission to the college was via CBSE senior secondary (class 12) examination. I scored an aggregate of 95% cumulatively in physics, chemistry and maths. I opted for Geology because I am fascinated by the earth and its components and want to study more about them.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The Geology course is very well structured, with a lot of focus on experimental work and application based study. The syllabus of the semesters is planned in such a way that students progress right from the basics to the more advanced stuff. The course is supplemented with field work to help students gain more insight into the application part of geology.

Internships Opportunities

No, to the best of my knowledge, Hansraj does not provide internship opportunities, at least in Geology.

Placement Experience

2.5

There is a very limited provision of campusing in geology as most if the jobs like GSI, ONGC etc are available only after completing the masters degree. But a few private companies do take students who excel in their Bachelors course. The pay offered by such companies is impressive but such opportunities are few.

College Events

5

There are a large number of events celebrated in Hansraj. They vary from literary fests, food fests, awareness fests, dance fests and music fests. In addition to these, there are also many sports activities. Hansraj College has an extensive number of cultural and social societies all of them organise fests and events. The participation in such fests is extensive.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is extremely feasible. Fees are planned in such a way that they suit the varied demography of the country. The fee for the geology course is close to 20,000 per annum. This includes the laboratory, WiFi, maintenance and the tuition charges.

Fees and Financial Aid

Unfortunately, I have little knowledge on this matter. I do know that our college provides some scholarship facilities for top scorers and for the less privileged. But the exact details remain unknown to me.

Campus Life

4

The gender ratio is neither in favour of girls nor in the favour of boys. Campus life is extremely interesting. Hansraj has a large campus with a huge ground which includes a cricket pitch, basketball court, archery and football. An indoor badminton court is also present along with an indoor shooting range. The presence of large number of cultural societies like dramatics and debate facilitate student participation in these areas.

Exam Structure

The exams are very well timed. They are not hectic and provide enough time to the students to prepare and score well. There are two internal exams in the core course (Geology), based on which, the internal assessment marks are calculated (along with attendance and class performance). The same takes place in the elective courses.

Admission

I got admitted in the second cutoff for Geology. The second cutoff was 95% and I scored the same in the CBSE board examinations. The admission process went quite smoothly for me, though some other students were not that fortunate. I was required to produce original and photocopies of class 10 and class 12 mark sheet, character certificate, provisional pass certificate and transfer certificate.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of geology is extremely well versed in the subject. They are very helpful and take extreme pains in making sure that the students thoroughly understand the subject. All the professors are highly qualified and have a doctorate degree and have done extensive research. They also provide moral support and are always ready to stand by our side.

I will rate the course curriculum 8/10. I like the labs specially they are modern with well equiped systems. According to me I suggest to improve the course structure to include more practical based learning instead of theory. Overall course is good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Life science includes zoology botany and chemistry considering this combo I think the study material is quite okay in terms of topics chemistry connects school teaching with one step ahead learning . Zoology provides new insights on various topics . Botany covers deeper understanding of syllabus . So overall it's good . Hands on lab work meets the demand of the subject . Also the topics taught match with the type of questions asked in exam. Difficulty level i would say it's moderate for botany and zoology but for chemistry is quite tough. Time management is a much needed skill for examination purpose. For course curriculum i would say more focus on current situation should be laid rather than history .

The average package is around 6.5-7 LPA and the highest usually varies from 13-15 LPA L. Usually 50 percent of the students get placed directly from campus and rest usually pursue some other academic programs or even off campus placements.

I think that the course curriculum is good and well managed . The curriculum has all necessary subjects related to our course as well as all other necessary subjects like human values and basic ethics. I find our course curriculum is apt for our course . Thought their is a lag for more practical learning and skills. It will be better if they add more practical learning.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus of Electronics Hons and Electrical Engineering is same but makes it different is how we perceive it. We study the syllabus with theoretical aspects while the engineers with practical aspects. We have a chance to opt for the 4th year, which only comprises of Research. One of the optionals is Generic Elective and if you take GE from same department for all semesters, you will attain a minor degree. The Faculties and whole curriculum is great but the other optionals require improvement. The other optionals only make the Student Life hectic, that stumbles the Student's focus from Course track.
