Remarks

At the time of my admission, my university used to take the entrance exams for all the bachelor's and master's courses. To get admission it is necessary to get at least 70% in the 12th board exam. Now one has to know the basics of mathematics to crack the entrance. The question paper is not so easy as well as not too hard. Firstly I applied for various colleges like in college, Ashutosh college, st. Xaviers' college, Scottish church college, Viswa Bharati university but in my opinion presidency University is best for students who want to know the subjects from a different angle and wish to take higher studies as well as various competitive exams like IIT jam, tifr, nbhm, etc. I didn't avail any quota for admission. The admission process is simple after the result one has to apply for counseling in the day counseling he/she should wait for his/her call according to rank in the exam. There are two counseling processes first and second according to availability of seats.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I started to like mathematics in my school. So I decided to pursue my career in this field. So I chose BSc Hons. Mathematics. Now our department has 13 faculties and the number of students in my class is 54. Our faculties are all well qualified. The teaching method is good in my opinion teachers are very helpful and always tries to solve all our queries. The time between every semester is nearly 5 to 6months as well as mid-sem exams are also conducted right in the middle time of every semester. But if one learns all the papers properly and practice questions from every chapter and make their concept well about the papers then it is not too hard to pass in the exams in my opinion.

Fees and Financial Aid

Costs of study are very nominal in our university any student from a middle-class family can easily bear it. In my time during the counseling process, my university took 4000 rupees as tuition fees for the first year and the semester fees for the first year were only 500 rupees. In the third-semester tuition fees were 900 rupees and the semester fee was only 250 rupees. In the fourth semester, our university didn't take any tuition fees or semester fees thinking that the financial condition is not well in our state due to the continuous lockdown situation because of the unprecedented pandemic. Various state, as well as central government scholarship opportunities, are there for students like inspire DST.

Campus Life

4.5

There are two annual fests conducted in our university every year. The first fest is ispat which is conducted in September and another is the icon it is conducted in March. Our library has a very well collection of books for every subject we have a central library as well as an arts Library. We have very nice decorated playground on the campus and floodlights. We have basketball courts and anyone can borrow bat ball football and other things from University to play. As well as there are many places on the campus for singing, playing guitar, and other extracurricular activities.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
