Remarks

I applied for graduation from gurucharan college for a chemistry major in 2015 after passing my 12th examination. Within 10-15 days of the 12th result being declared, the forms for admission were released. As the cutoff science, that year was 65% I did not apply for any other college as I was sure to get a seat here. I got the prospectus from college for free along with the form. The form was to be properly duly signed and submitted to the college counter along with the necessary documents. A date was given on which there would be released a list of students selected for admission on the basis of merit. I was called for councelling on the following day in the auditorium where I was asked my preferences for the subject I want to take admission in and according to the availability of seats I was assigned to the chemistry department. You need to then move to the college admission counter along with your subject slip, pay your fees, get your admission done, take your receipts and collect your uniform.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Having developed an interest in chemistry in 12th i decided to take the course.Further the faculty was by far the best in town and there were around 7-8 teachers each for one branch and there were also some faculty teachers for helping in projects and assignments.Batches were also not very big and there were smart classes. Some teachers were phd holders and some very qualified and the teaching learning process was fun. Well the college is affiliated under Assam University so the exams were mostly on time but yeah passing was a hard nut to crack.

Fees and Financial Aid

Talking about fees, it was not much. However, there is a provision of free admission right now for the economically poorer sections all you need to do is follow the procedure. Further, there was also provision for scholarships for the minority section and also for girls.

Campus Life

4.5

Life at the campus was interesting. There were freshers, teachers day sarodiya Utsav and many more. The college library was big enough and books of all genres were available. The classroom is smart classrooms. There were projectors and interactive classes. The college was very active in sports participation. The college has a branch of NCC NSS IGNOU and many others.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was a major factor that influenced my decision to choose this course, as it is well-structured and offers a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. The syllabus covers essential concepts in a systematic manner, starting from the basics and gradually advancing to more complex topics. The inclusion of practical sessions, assignments, and project work made the course appear relevant and aligned with current academic and professional requirements. This thoughtful design assured me that the course would help in developing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and subject clarity, which are important for both academic growth and career development.

• I always loved plants, trees and forest as my father is from Forest background. So, I wanted to walk on his footsteps and do something is same background. I always dreamt of making a change in the society and serve the society so I choose Botany subject. •The curriculum is planned in such a way that we learn both theoretically and practically, we go on field trips where we interact with common people and do surveys that will help us in future while working on the department •There is no such areas that needs improvement, I like the way it is going on and the teaching method is also nice, only the thing is there should not be so many classes in one day, as a student gets very exhaust •The frequency and timing of exams is that in sessional its 25 marks with 1 hour 30 minutes and its easy to moderate, and 2nd is final which is of 50 marks with 2 hours 30 minutes and its moderate to hard

Course Curriculum Overview:

Areas for improvement: more industry collaborations, guest lectures, and hands-on projects. Some subjects feel outdated and could be updated. Teaching methods could incorporate more interactive sessions and case studies. Exams are held semester-wise, with a mix of easy and challenging questions. Difficulty level is manageable with consistent effort. Frequency is okay, but sometimes feels rushed. Overall, the curriculum provides a solid foundation, but could benefit from more flexibility and modernization to better prepare students for the industry.
