After the WBJEE exam, I applied for various colleges in West Bengal (both private and government-affiliated). After successive rounds of counseling, I got admitted to the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology. I had also been offered seats in several other colleges, but the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology was the best one among the ones that I had been offered.

Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore is affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology which counts among one of the finest universities in India in terms of technical studies. Hence, our course curriculum covers updated industrial standards and modern real-life industrial practices. The course structure is designed in such a way that people who follow the structure properly will face no difficulty in the future. The faculty members are great, they are easily approachable, and they are always eager to help the students. The faculty to students ratio is around 1:4 for the CSE Department, and it is about the same for other streams as well.

Internships are not offered on campus. But, both the college faculty and the college alumni are very helpful in this regard. They help a lot with the internship process. They provide valuable guidance that is very helpful for the students looking for internships. But the student has to be dedicated enough to seek out internships on their own.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the seventh semester. The placements for Computer Science and Engineering Department and Textile Technology Department are abundant. Many companies visit the college campus to hire students. Some of the notable among them are TCS, COGNIZANT, INFOSYS, WIPRO, ADOBE, ORACLE, RAYMOND, WELSPUN, SYNTAX, etc.

Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Berhampore is very affordable in terms of course fees, and it makes studying in this institute very accessible to a very wide demographic. The fee is under 15000 per anum for all streams. Various scholarships are available and can be availed by students, but these are reserved for minorities and/or for families with an income of fewer than 3 lakhs per anum.

The campus is well organized, and various amenities are present on the campus. The college campus is situated in the heart of the city, and all-important places are situated very close to the campus. Various festivals and occasions are celebrated in the college. The college also organizes an annual fest named Alfresco. The college library has an outstanding selection of books for every subject: academic books, classical literature, contemporary literature, academic journals, etc. The classrooms are clean, the students have access to smart classes with projectors for more effective teaching. The laboratories have all the necessary equipment for practical classes. Several clubs are available for the students to join, such as Coding Club, Photography Club, Chess Club, and several others.
