Remarks
Only available option of masters in psychology for non psych graduates in Mumbai. The admissions process is very simple, it all happens online. But the regional centre is now in Panvel so if you have to travel for any reason, it will be difficult. Classes, practicals and submissions happen in the study centre but now everything is online. The college is greatly disorganised but it is still a decent option if you are in need of a degree and are willing to study else where
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus can sometimes be outdated, but I cannot compare it to other universities. The basics of psychology are covered and you learn a lot while working on your thesis and internship report if you are sincere. The faculty is unreliable and can sometimes stop responding through email, even if they are your academic counsellor for your submissions. Passing the term end exams is fairly standard.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, there is a compulsary internship which most clinical psychology students do at Sion hospital. It is mostly an observationship where psychiatrists meet new patients and you take down their case histories. It is quite an enlightening experience
Placement Experience
There are no placements held for IGNOU students and it is difficult to get employment with your degree, depending on the field of your choice. Typically, IGNOU students can become counsellors so long as they do their therapy training elsewhere however, there is now a mental health act that has been passed rendering the degree useless
Fee Structure And Facilities
I am unaware of any scholarships or financial aid. The fees is 8000 for a term but you have to pay 150 per subject when applying for your exams and 750 per subject if you need your results re-evaluated
Campus Life
Given that it is a distance course, there is minimal interaction with your classmates. However, it is always a good idea to befriend them when you meet during classes, seminars and internships. Many time, you will not be informed of relevant deadlines and dates so having as many friends as possible is advised.
Hostel Facilities
There is no hostel facility and accomodation as far as I know. Most of the students are living in the city while working in another field or with their families.
